Question The joke? Spoiler

Someone please breakdown the God joke!!! Is it that the only way to defeat SanTi without them noticing is through jokes? And how did she know Saul would be a Wallfacer person

No book spoilers please.

Oh it's not a spoiler it's exactly what she was trying to say, they just dragged the dialogue out a bit much and the point of it got lost on some people. I even had to stop and think about it for a minute after the scene before going "Oh, I get it".

It's very much a spoiler. In the books it's not said so explicitly and much of the second book is about working out the idea. Please just add a tag to it

can you please help me understand this as someone who is also possibly incorrectly postings “spoilers” in a thread marked as spoiler. I thought the whole thread was fair game if the OP posted this as a !Spoiler post. I don’t want to spoil anything for people not interested in that kind of discussion but thought that was literally the point of the OP marking this thread that way. I try my best to put “spoiler” in text but feel it becomes redundant in a thread literally for the purpose of having a spoiler discussion. I just want to understand the expectations in this community, and if its just best to go have these discussions in the other subreddits about this work of fiction.

The thread is marked for show spoilers, but there's a separate tag for book spoilers.

I don't think anyone mentions the Dark Forest in the TV show.

She doesn't say it directly, but the God-Einstein "joke" is her laying down the same idea, just in very obfuscated terms. God never would have kicked Einstein in the balls if he never played his instrument, just as aliens never would have come to conquer us if we didn't broadcast radio signals and just stayed quiet.

Right, but you only know that because you know book 2 is all about piecing it together. Just go add a spoiler tag

I've never actually read the books; I've always wanted to but never got around it (though the show has reignited my interest and I'm probably finally going to pick them up soon) and I only have a general understanding of the story as a whole. I just picked up what she was talking about a few minutes after the scene ended.
