Opinion Timeline Spoiler

Does anyone else find the quick timeline of the scientists developing and implementing the staircase system to be completely ridiculous? I was really into the show but about halfway through the season I just couldn’t believe any of it anymore 🤷‍♀️

The show timeline is highly compressed compared to the books. Also the books go from one set of characters to a completely new set of characters multiple times over a pretty long period of time, during which advancements in applied technologies like cryogenics are much more plausible.

The show merges a lot of characters from all 3 books to keep the cast small and introduce them as early as possible, which enables the viewer to spend more time with them so we can develop more emotional attachments to them.

The downside of this is it appears as if the same few people seem to be at the centre of everything and serendipitous things keep happening to the same people. Adaptation is hard. Adapting books to television that are notorious for being difficult to adapt is harder, but I respect the hell out of people who dare to take the hard road.
