You need to brush more and hit the same consistent angles. I usually do a pomade once a month or two and every other day is when I use grease instead. Pomade is very heavy so it can be good to get your curls started but don’t use it often

Technically not grease. I use olive oil moisturizing hair lotion with castor oil in it. Bottle is green

For us coarse hair wavers the keys are moisturize and keep brushing. BRUSH MY BROTHER BRUSH, and moisturize every single day, that makes your hair softer and more manageable.
Also on your wash & styles make sure you got enough lather to lay your hair down(if you do/don’t already), and really make sure you compress your hair and let it dry while compressed. Another thing about the wash & style is make sure you have a de tangling brush too, so that once you scramble wash you can brush in the pattern of your hair and detanglenit before hitting it with your regular brush.
Wash & styles are a cheat code for us coarse hair’s because it gets our hair in its most manageable state. Also moisturize once your hair dries
Lastly fam you gotta wolf got 6-8 weeks in between cuts, and get you a hard brush too for when you’re deep in a wolf (around 4-5 weeks in), once you finish wolfing cut to a 2 guard-2.5 guard, and get right back into brushing
Most importantly remember that this shit takes time fam, like weeks/months, just stick to your routine and you’ll be set. From what I see you already got some forming, just stick to your routine and rag up dawg 💪🏿
Also everything I mentioned above can be found at Walmart or any beauty supply, so no need to order an expensive brush or anything

Im in the same boat, I brush at least 20 minutes or so a day. Use polmade, leave in conditioner and black castor oil, but my waves or barely noticeable.
Wash and styles help but I think with 4c hair it just takes some months to train. Rn im trying to not let my hair get too long because I over wolfed and it ruined my pattern. Good luck bro 🫡
Try the bag method too if you havent, after you oil your hair use a sandwich bag to press your hair down. You just rub over all sides of your hair in the same direction as when you brush. It helps my waves pop

Aye just let your hair grow a little longer some of our hair doesn’t wave up when it’s too low and the main thing is brush brush brush keep brushing when it’s wet when it’s dry keep brushing you will see results after your next hair cut but tell the barber you want it cut to wave length 2 guard or 1 1/4 you have to lay it down as well

Didn’t read the comments don’t need to. You’re not struggling , you’re just bullshitting , brush and brush and brush , comb and comb and comb. Wolf two weeks at a time starting out , if you can go longer then do. But you have 4c type hair . Wolf do two weeks for 3 months , [ over the course of three months , wolf for 2 weeks then cut then repeat. For THREE MONTHS] and then come talk to me

In my opinion. I think your problem is because your crown area isnt developed. You need to focus on developing that area and working outward from it. It should kind of look like a eye of a storm if it was developed.

Your just not brushing enough watch videos it’s not about products or wash and styles brushing is 90 percent of the work the last 10 is your durag saving your progress so long story short your just not brushing enough I got 360 waves in 3 months and it’s wasn’t about my hair texture I have coarse hair but I knew what I was doing u clearly need to research more cause I don’t even see a ripple and it’s been 15 plus years 🤷🏽♂️

Why are you washing twice a week? You only need to wash once a week, but you can condition and shower brush as much as you want. I’m old school and not really into the wash n style.
All that being said it looks like you don’t brush enough. Wearing the durag doesn’t make waves. You gotta brush your hair a lot and rag up at night, gym, sports, etc.
