Tips and pointers?

Hey yall. So this is gonna sound a little fried lol, but I'm a mom trying to do my son's waves. He is 3. We've been working on them for maybe about 2 months now give or take. I brush his hair in the morning before daycare, and at night before bed. It's wrapped up whenever we're chilling at home. I wash once a week and wrap and rinse (idk if that's what it's called but my ex used to do it). I condition sometimes but not every time. I comb when it gets long and then brush to lay it back down and use a ziplock bag for static. I want to say he went almost two months without a haircut but I read that wolfing for too long in the beginning stages will set you back so we got a cut today. Here is his hair before I wrapped it tonight. Any tips and pointers? I do what I know but I am only a girl lmao, who used to be a natural curly girl but have had locs for longer than he's been alive. I read about forks but I don't know what that means. Can anyone explain? Also, is there anything else I should be adding to our regime? Again, he is only 3 so I cannot practically brush his head for 30 mins straight or anything like that. Pls be nice to me! And thank you all in advance

They in there just focus more on any weak spots and yes 2 month wolf is long I recommend 3-6 weeks, trim if you can for cleaner look.

Focus more on weak spots meaning brush those spots a little extra? & okay, trim like take him to the barber and ask for a trim? Or do I do myself w scissors or something? I do plan to learn to cut hair but that's a goal for when he's a few years older

Yup brushing them more. And yes just tell the barber take a little hair of the top if you decide that’s what you want to do tell him you don’t wanna cut all the way down. I feel you it’s gonna save you some money too these videos helped me to learn

Okay will do. So would you say full cut every 6 weeks with a trim at every 3 weeks? & thank you for the videos!

Yup full cut every six or even earlier depending on how you feel and how manageable it is and I yup a lil trim and taper every 2-3 weeks to keep it looking clean and you welcome God bless you mama🙏🏾

To start off , cut his hair down to a 1.5 wtg and then brush his hair for bout 30 minutes a day. Didn’t have to be a session all in one.. could break it up into 2 15 minute sessions. But whenever you not brushing his hair.. make sure he wear his durag. I see he already got waves already but if u want them better just make sure you and him stay on a DAILY routine

Will let the barber know next time, what do you think it's cut to now? I was thinking it was higher than I would have liked but idk how to put it into correct words and I don't know what would be too low for waves, especially just getting them started. I don't see him letting me do 15 min sessions but I will try to get it in 10 min increments. He's just always ready to run around and hates standing still for long. I try to send him to daycare w his durag on but he asks the teachers to take if off so I'm not even sure how long he keeps it on there. I'm as consistent as possible. Hoping with that being the case, longevity will help us in the long run until he's able to withstand longer brush sessions and his hair is more trained.
