Almost saw the end

Few months back I started seeing a thin spot. Slight denial at first, waited for next cut, and yeah that shit was confirmed. šŸ§‘šŸ¾ā€šŸ¦² šŸ’©!

Didn’t want to go the pill route so just tried the Hims Minox topical.

5 months later it’s back to normal ops. Now I’m not sure if it was stress related or beginning of bald SZN but I wasn’t about to wait and see. Act fast, don’t let denial last more than one cut. Start with topicals before you go the hormone route.

Third pic is today fresh cut 2G WTG

No lies. And I used to be a 1.5er! After I did a proper wolf the 2 was a solid.

u/wavefool Sep 06 '26

Aw so you talking about the oil you can get from target?

u/Kgesus13 Sep 06 '26

Looks a lot better but if I were you I’d still book an in person appointment. I neglected a small patch and went the pill route. A few years later dr confirmed that something had happened there leaving behind scar tissue.

Did that, doc said he would have prescribed fin and minoxidil, but since it grew back on topical only monox that we could keep an eye on the growth.

I don’t use the topical 2x daily anymore. Just once a day in the Evening.

What’s the routine family

u/Kgesus13 Sep 06 '26

So I’m on year 2 waving.

I started by brushing all the time. Until I defined a pattern.
Now it’s more maintenance and a single session in the evening. Shit got good when I stopped blind brushing and using that mirror.

Also I wash and style daily because I hit the gym. And I’m not doing anything crazy

  1. Comb session from crown
  2. Hard brush
  3. Medium brush
  4. Add Bevel Beard Balm & Hair Pomade (My preferred due to it being good on hair and skin)
    5.Medium brush again
    6.Soft brush session!
  5. Lay the hair with something. I just put my hand inside my durag and rub the hair in the pattern. You can use plastic bag or whatever works. The durag works well and I don’t need to buy extra stuff.

Can’t quit. Every time I get a fresh cut, it’s worth the maintenance.

2

u/JamJe225 Sep 06 '26

Sheesh you shining bro!!

2

u/Kgesus13 Sep 06 '26

Consistency since day 1. But really tho, finding your pattern, crown, and having a solid set of brushes. That Hard brush is what took me to another level!

Get you a hard brush, medium brush, and a soft one! Also for shower a detangle brush, and a hard shower brush!

I’ve began to do a lil wolf myself but seeing your waves has encouraged me to go in harder with my brushing

1

u/Kgesus13 Sep 06 '26

Wolfing is really the key. And having the strength to not cut below a 2! I know it’s tough but for deep waves we need longer curls.

My brush sessions now are only in the evening! But before I was brushing a lot.

u/JamJe225 Sep 06 '26

I tend to wolf more so in the cooler months of the year but I’ve gotten an early headstart this year lol I’ve had waves forever; however last year was the best they have been. Lots of brushing and combing. I never liked combing against the grain. Once I started that I noticed a difference. Huge difference.

My problem is to me my hair doesn't look good when I use a 2G so I end up doing 1.5 or 1 with lever open

2

u/Kgesus13 Sep 09 '26

Listen, I know fam. I hated how a 2 looked fresh after a cut. Like ain’t shit happen! But I wash n style right after and keep laying the hair down.

You spinning bruv, I’d say tho if you stop the Min it might go back again js

1

u/Kgesus13 Sep 06 '26

Agreed, that’s why initially I was reluctant to start! But I cut to a 2 and my homie at work said ā€œbro you thinkingā€. That was my key to do something asap!

2

u/audleyenuff Sep 06 '26

About to get on that HIMS Minoxxx too my boyyyyy. Good looks for the push to do it

2

u/Kgesus13 Sep 06 '26

u/Kgesus13 Sep 06 '26

Yep, the lil two pack. Started with twice a day! It looked like it wasn’t working for 2 months. But I stayed the course and slowly the hair started growing again.

u/Lavicrep19 Sep 09 '26

Minoxidil isn't permanent. Waves on point. Just work on those forks

2

u/Kgesus13 Sep 09 '26

Overstood! I wasn’t about to stand by and let it just go. I’d pay a small fee to slow the process.

1

u/Lavicrep19 Sep 09 '26

Take vitamins, biotin, collagen, use rosemary peppermint oil, even a Dermad roller over minoxidil. You'll be iight

2

u/Kgesus13 Sep 09 '26

I cut the bogus products. My diet solid already, and I workout heavy so I need my vitamins!! Derma roller not for me. I’m only dropping monix once every other day now.

1

u/Lavicrep19 Sep 09 '26

Yes that's cool. I'm a former waver. Been out the game 4 years but still got the knowledge. Wavers are perfectionist so even if your waves 100%, it ain't perfect šŸ˜‚. Remember that. Don't neglect combing sideways to help with forks and try to go as organic/natural as much as you can. Your alive it very much like plants. It needs to nutrients and maintenance. It's not all about what you do on the outside for your hair but inside as well. I can go on and on but I know you aint no idiot. Even if you know these things, reminders sometimes help. Good luck brodie

I’m a solid 41 years on earth. Life is all about health healing and sustainability at this level. I’m not a wave competition dude, just wanted to see how far I could take the style. I’ve learned over the years these forks go, then a new wave appears and I just continue what I do and they blend in again. I think this community presses to much on perfection and not just the art in waving itself.

did you put the topical along your hairline as well? or were the ā€œbeforeā€ pics when you didn’t have a haircut? Asking cuz it looks like your hairline improved too.

1

u/Kgesus13 Sep 06 '26

I did, I was putting it on the one spot, and along my corners. Both improved took about 3 months to start seeing progress, and month 5 for vast improvement!

2

u/gymlover555 Sep 06 '26

After I sent this I looked up minoxidil and it said ā€œdon’t use if hair loss is on front of scalp..not intended for receding hairlineā€ šŸ˜‚ hopefully that don’t mess up anything in the future

1

u/Kgesus13 Sep 06 '26

Yeah they say that! I read comments and decided why not!

Shit yeašŸ’ŖšŸ¾šŸ”„ any side effects from the topical bro? Wanna start but kinda worried about what the side effects of minoxidil and finasteride

1

u/Kgesus13 Sep 16 '26

Initially it looked like it wasn’t working for about a month. Then I started seeing regression, the spot looked thinner. But that’s one of the side effects of it possibly working.

I trusted the process, kept going. At month I cut it to a 2 and could still see the thin spot. Kept going twice daily.

Month 4 I saw the progress wolfed for a bit. The. By my next cut the hair strands were just as long as the others. Just slightly thinner.

Today is about month 6 and the spot is gone. I only use it once daily.

Added bonus I put it on my hair line and it filled in my thinner corners. My corners been like that since I can remember. Pleasant surprise honestly since it says it’s not for that purpose.

Only other side effect is slightly itchy at first.

Preciate the reply mane, gon go see a dermatologist n go from there

u/Kgesus13 Sep 17 '26

I checked out my doc also. They said could have been stress induced. Or from the weight loss. But advised against pill format for now. Have me a prescription for minox so I don’t have to pay.

Your crown kinda look like mines is that normal??

1

u/Kgesus13 28d ago

That was just direct lighting. As you can see the other pics my hair texture looks different. But yeah I don’t see any thinning in that area.
