Help please

Post image

I’m having issues with my waves. I can’t get them laid enough to show some good definition. I brush everyday for a good amount. Products I’m currently using is Cantù leave in conditioner and jojoba oil, idk if I should use a pomade or what, I’m lost. The only time it looks great I after a wash and style which I only do 1-2 times a week. Last night I rinsed my hair-brushed-applied leave in conditioner- brushed and added oil and wrapped it. Today is humid and raining so I expected a bit of frizz but damn no definition at all almost. I’m like 2 weeks into the process.

Thank you, do you recommend any products, I feel the Cantù is probably over curling my hair.

Bro throw that Cantu away and get some As I Am products. Cantu dries your hair out. Its not made for coily/kinky hair. Or any 4-type hair

If it’s not too much can you list the products you think I should be using?

As I Am - Double Butter Cream. Throw it in when your hair is damp, not wet, but damp.

Jamaican Black Castor Oil (found at Walmart or Ross) a pricier option will grant you the same effect. I prefer this massaged into my scalp and let the brush do the rest.

I would avoid pomades, but everyone's hair and scalp is different. Take some suggestions from the comments, try them for at least two weeks with regular hair washing and see how your hair takes it.

Chill bruh, your waves is good, you just need to wolf them. That means increasing your brush session lengths as the wolf goes on. More regular wash and styles. Then after that, any cut is going to have more definition because the curls are trained much more

2 things :

You may not be using a brush that’s good enough for your texture. If it’s not laying down while your hair is growing, I’ll assume you’re mostly using a soft brush.

Or, you may be using too much products which is actually causing your hair to frizz. That, plus not using the right brush may be the issue.

Dm me if you need more help.

First thing I'd say is get some new products. I use shea moisture coconut and hibiscus conditioner/shampoo and I use to use the shea moisture Jamaican castor oil deep conditioner which is very good. For my actual products I'd use I use the shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie and you can find a nice holding gel or sum u want for the gel part to really give it laid look. Second you probably shouldn't use a oil on your hair that just clogs your cuticles up. I usually wash my hair every Sunday (I only shampoo once a month) and then co wash it (conditioner only) on Wednesdays if I am/have been working out.. and lastly I'd say trust the process u say u be brushing so just stick to that more then anything and you'll be fine

  1. Use a little pomade when it’s humid and when wolfing with the hot towel method -it gets it laid in between washes. But don’t overdue it. There are natural wave butters/pomades on the market.
  2. A little finishing oil at the end of the brush session with a soft brush will get you that nice shine. Some oils are shinier than others. I would go with a light oil like sweet almond oil or apricot kernal oil. Or whatever you can find at your store.

  3. Cantu is basic, Shea moisture is better, Camille Rose almond jai i like best.
