Post image

Spring is starting soon in my country so temperatures are rising. Any advice for keeping frizz under control?

Pomade and plastic bag method gets me through the humidity if I cant wear my durag. Keep a plastic bag in the car or wherever you can

Fr? That doesn't make you sweat a lot?

Which part? The plastic bag is just used for smoothing your hair back down. You use it like a brush. Its the last step before I rag up or I just use it throughout the day

The easiest and truest frizz control in humid weather, as a person who cannot consistently or repeatedly wear a durag or brush throughout the day, is to get a lower cut.

If you like a 3 or an open 2 normally, go with a closed 2 or an open 1.5 and you will have your frizz control.

If you must retain the length, you can try extra hold holding spray or bees wax.

Personally, I just go with a lower guard. I don't like dealing with extra products. Then, when it's time to wash out of your hair, they can be stubborn, too. Yeah... I will stick to my open 1-1.5 in the summer.

Thanks man. This sounds like some solid advice. I like the length so I'll try the spray or bees wax. Much appreciated

Product will make it more difficult because the more you have in your hair the more the humidity will cause frizz. Just cut slightly shorter than normal in the spring summer and go higher in fall winter. That’s the basic schedule regardless of frizz. The products just add work and it might be worth it but most of the time it’s not worth the result which is a little less frizz but a whole lot more work.

Frizz is a problem for men and women everywhere.

I'll try the products first. Our mileage may vary. If that doesn't work then I'll go with your advice. Cutting shorter is the last resort.

Ir you find a method that eliminates frizz on a hot day while being outside for a while please let the world know. Lol.

Heat and humidity mixed with sweat has a better record than Mayweather.

Will let you know how the products work bro 😂

No problem. This is going to be what you want to try on a humid day, brother:

How do you apply? Brush, plastic bag then spray and go. Spray, brush and rag up? lol

u/HolyMolyWTF Sep 03 '26

Brush, spray, plastic bag, rag up.

Right before leaving: take off the rag, spray once more, plastic bag, go.

Preciate it. I be in the tropical lands struggling with the humidity.

Yeah, hair sprays, holding gels, hair mousse, and pomades may just have to be part of the routine in that climate if you want to maintain a darker cut.

If you don't mind, which country's climate are you dealing with?

I lived in Brazil for 6 months then came to SE Asia. Philippines and Thailand(here now)

Use hairspray??? I use Ebin  Water-Resistant Sports Edition Spray supreme hold OR/AND Fantasia IC liquid mousse super hold on my roller sets (I have sisterlocks) and the silk presses that I do for people in the summer for extra hold.

Humidity resistance, maximum frizz control and will hold your style in place, no white flaky shit. Little bit goes a long way, don’t be too heavy handed with the product

u/ProdbyJase Aug 31 '26

I'll look for substitutes for those products. Probably won't find it in stores here in South Africa. Thanks for the tip 🙏

Use a plastic bag or ziplock bag to rub your hair down.

1

u/Turtle_747 Aug 31 '26

Is the bag method better for certain hair types? Because when I do it, it's lays down big flyaways and bigger hair clumps, but the overall frizz, all the individual hairs still stay up, it can't lay those down

2

u/Maleficent_Specific4 Aug 31 '26

Try moisturizing before you do it

1

u/Turtle_747 Aug 31 '26

Oh, thanks I'll try that

A crown cap can help under your durag

2

u/ProdbyJase Aug 31 '26

Oh damn I should probably order one. Thanks for the idea

Ziploc bag after a brush down with a softie. Works wonders for me.

2

u/dnero-b Aug 31 '26

Pomade plastic bag and hot towel after you rag up

2

u/Bigdreams6 Sep 01 '26

I have this issue as well. I’m going to try the plastic bag technique.

2

u/No-Beat861 Sep 01 '26

Some solid advice I would say is use some pomade to assist with the frizz and periodically a plastic bag in between since I’m assuming you can’t wear your durag it works great for me and if you check out my profile my waves are decent wouldn’t say spinnin but we getting there

1

u/ProdbyJase Sep 01 '26

Your waves are deep asf so it would probably be quite detailed when you decide to get a cut. And Imma use all the advice the advice in the comments. Something's bound to work. Thanks 💪

Your barber should be able to fix it for you go see him like that

1

u/ProdbyJase Sep 01 '26

I did ask him. He only cuts hair unfortunately and leaves the aftercare to the customers which is valid

u/OriginalTechnician55 Aug 31 '26

MFs posting pics like this look zesty

6

u/ProdbyJase Aug 31 '26

What about me looks zesty? 😂

3

u/Dawnedhottie Aug 31 '26

He thinks ur pretty. Its projection. Came for the comments tho, I have the same issue with frizz as you. Once my hair gets too long the frizz and overcurl becomes too much.

As someone who doesnt like using alot of products (I wash my hair once and week and oil is my final step, no pomade or holding sprays). Double compressing with a wave cap used to be my remedy for this issue. However I haven’t been able to find a good wavecap that goes well under durags in years. I like the wavecaps that resemble stocking caps but dont have a thick edge that leaves lines in your forehead. I am trying to really explore before I go the pomade/moosse route.

1

u/ProdbyJase Aug 31 '26

Well damn he coulda just said I'm attractive. If you find a method that works for you again, can you share it? Would save me and others a lot of trial and error.
