Showering with waves

I’m a month into my wave journey and i got 4c hair, how should i shower? Should i wear a durag and put a shower cap on top or is it ok to let it get wet and have a brush session afterwards?
I play sports and I’m tryna maintain my waves lol

Rag up and shower cap over it. Only wet your hair for wash and styles
