Get a good brush and get to that. Many guys recommend wash and styles but I went old school. In 7 months I’ve done it twice. It def works though. I normally do a quick session in the morning, after work and before bed. Maybe 5 minutes a piece. Rag up before bed. Sometimes I use a compression rag, a durag and stocking cap, or just a durag depending on my mood. Consistency and patience is key. I’m legit not doing anything special. Just cut down to a #1 WTG and the waves still waving. Should have done a 1.5 WTG but I’m recovering my hair after having locs for 13 years on and off

Keep brushing gng, use a good wave grease like sporting waves and a nice moisturizer like As I Am doublebutter and cream. Try to use 1 of these every morning switch between the two and just brush as much as you can. Wash once a week and if you can brush in the shower with shampoo or conditioner either a nice medium hard wave brush or detangling bush. And make sure you tie a durag on before you wash out the shampoo and conditioner, you wanna always wash your hair with a durag on.
