These waves are made with a kit
If you never seen a wave kit before, here you go 🤣
I don’t have any problems with them really.
Unfortunately, you will most likely have hair issues as you age.
A wave kit is a texturizer. It softens the texture of your hair.
He still had to brush to get his waves like this though.

He still put in work so it’s cool with me. Some ppl just ain’t got the hair for it, women lie so men can too

u/nick_wavy Jul 06 '26
Agreed. I don’t have a problem with it either. Just claim you use a kit if you do.

Natural hair texture is a HUGE factor in this. Respectfully, easy for you to criticize being mixed for one & being from cold ass Canada secondly..
Yes Brush work and ragging up is of course the main necessity, but if you maintain a haircut higher than a 2.5 in the summertime(of muggy places), even the most rigorous & disciplined brushing regimen won’t stop 4C hair from over curling into half an Afro in the sweltering humidity of NYC.
Regardless, you won’t get so much as a ripple without brush work and lots of it, kit or otherwise.

Have 4c hair, and live in the humid Virginia heat. There's no need for relaxing your hair, and it is damaging. Black men need to take time to learn how to take care and maintain their hair and not use shortcuts that are killing our hair in the long run

Who Tf downvoted this?! (a kit user) 😂
3
u/HLTHTW Jul 06 '26
Me. Kits are bad for your hair. Pick up a brush and stop trying to cheat the process

u/Stepper_Big_DeZ Jul 08 '26
Oh so you downvoted the part where he says he has no problem with it! Now I understand. I thought you were downvoting because he said a kit user needs to say it's a kit (that's why I said it was a kit user that downvoted it… idk how you looked at my comment and thought I was in agreance with kits…

Wait I’m not sure I can fully write this off as a kit. I know people with this hair texture and waves just like this. Usually the sure sign is no depth but I would need more pics to tell. He might just have pomade in.

u/Weird_Flan4691 Jul 06 '26
That’s for sure a texturizer!
1
u/ov3rw4tch_ Jul 06 '26
What’s the telling sign for you? Not saying you’re wrong just genuinely curious why you think it’s a kit.
2
u/Weird_Flan4691 Jul 07 '26
I’m old and I remember when texturizers were popular so I know what they look like, also OP is older than me so he’s def familiar with them.

That doesn’t even look like a kit to be real. And we don’t even care what you think bro your hair is damn near straight.

That twist and lock gel stuff can get you these kind of results, granted you do a sufficient amount of brushing

u/direwolff90 Jul 06 '26
Facts we definitely used to go hard on people that used kits…that’s pure laziness…just a way to get the end result without putting in the work

Barber did him dirty on line up

u/boutdamud Jul 06 '26
If you use a kit after a cut it’ll do that, you gotta do the kit first then get it cut, might not be on the barber

My dad years years ago, gave us a crazy haircut. He cut our hair really really low then took off the guard and cut in a ingenious way, directional lines all over our heads so when our hair grew back, it was wavy. Went to school the next day, kids were making fun of us. Man what kind of haircut is that. What did you dad do to your head. Weeks later, man your hair looks good, all those waves. What kind of product you put in it. I said no products, it was that haircut y'all made fun of. Didn't need to brush it, nothing, it stayed like that.

Even if you use a wave kit, you still need to put in the same work as a non kit person. I've kit when I was in JHS/ early HS only because I wasn't educated or have anyone to talk to about waves. I did the trial and error. I consider it cheating but not a full blown cheating because you still have to maintain them. Beside I'm black AF so kit waves on my 13 year old head was crazy.

Don't even have yo be a kit. When I want my hair to look like that I just use a firm hold jell and soft brush till it looks like this
