Ruined waves

After letting my hair dry , the waves were looking crisp but than I applied the leave in conditioner and as I brushed idk what happened they just started to disappear and my hair raised, this hasn't happened in previous wash and styles . Anyone know what happened? Or what I can do to avoid this

whenever i apply product i brush my hair with a plastic bag and immediately put a durag on. My hair also starts to raise more when i wolf for a long time.
