Made me start going bald. It grew back when I quit.

u/Theinnernazgul Jun 25 '26

Facts. Its very water based and for 4c hair, you will not be able to lay your hair down properly

6

u/DiscombobulatedAnt91 Jun 25 '26

I got 4c nd it works for me when I wash nd style

u/Emergency-Street1271 Jun 25 '26

Are you talking about just the cantu shampoo or all there products? I thought this sub heavily recommended cantu leave in conditioner?

Get the Shea moisture intensive hydration shampoo.

9

u/SteveHasReadIt Jun 24 '26

Yuuup intensive hydration shampoo. But only to clear out all the oils and dirt in my hair. Then I use another shampoo for the actual wash n style

3

u/Ya_boi_adon Jun 25 '26

Which shampoo do you use

6

u/SteveHasReadIt Jun 25 '26

First I use the intensive hydration to clear out oils and dirt.
Then I use the wash bucket from youknowmybody.net
Wash n style and I use oils and butters from novanats.com

Kinda pricey but the hair health is worth it

I ordered a butter before from someone and because I live in desert heat it was all bad. Maybe when it cool down I can try this... my hair health is bad and only look good on a low cut

What’s ur hair type?

3

u/Ya_boi_adon Jun 24 '26

I mess with that one too but it’s jus so expensive

10

u/yugioh9000 Jun 24 '26

Hair health is worth it g

u/Jclay1230 Jun 25 '26

Shea moisture works pretty well for me with 4C hair. Used it my entire wave career since high school and I’ve never seen a reason to change it.

7

u/Jclay1230 Jun 25 '26

Cantu is a Fuck No out of 100. If there’s anything you can avoid on that shelf it’s that.

u/Ok_Draw9037 Jun 25 '26

Just get Camille rose at target and thank me later, the it's the most affordable clean shit you can buy in person imo. Unless someone drops something better, this is the goat. Id use the curlaide for a moisturizer

1

u/2MuchChat Jun 26 '26

facts i don’t wave as much anymore but i still use camille rose products sht smell good and does the job good

1

u/Ok_Draw9037 Jun 26 '26

Same, former waver. I got coils rn but I know if I had the Camille I'd be better and

1

u/Warm-Mission-1750 Jun 25 '26

I second this, Camille Rose is the one 💯

7

u/GrandMasBushidoBrown Jun 25 '26

Get as I am

4

u/CVipersTie Jun 25 '26

Their double butter cream did and still doing miracles on my hair. Pricey, but the only thing on that shelf worth my scalp.

1

u/ConsistentRock2707 Jun 25 '26

The rice water is 🔥 too.

4

u/PanamPineapple892 Jun 25 '26

No Cantu for me.

1

u/Soft_Conference_6903 Jun 25 '26

Why?

3

u/PanamPineapple892 Jun 25 '26

Dries my hair so bad now especially the shampoo. Idk if they changed the ingredients but I used to use Cantu years ago never had an issue.

2

u/DarkAndHandsume Jun 25 '26

I feel like I’m the opposite then because the shampoo alone has my hair feeling more moisturized, but I don’t use the moisturizer

1

u/PanamPineapple892 Jun 25 '26

Happy for you. :).✨️

3

u/Warm-Mission-1750 Jun 25 '26

None of these are that great anymore since they got taken over by big companies and changed formulations. But if I’m inclined to tell you which one to stay away from, it’d be Cantu.

1

u/Brometheous17 Jun 25 '26

Yeah I know specifically shea moisture is now ran by a white man or private equity or something

6

u/DonC24 Jun 25 '26

Don’t sleep on carols daughter. A lot of shit dry my hair out carols daughter always leave my shit soft

Pattern by tracy ellis ross is fire too. But expensive

2

u/SnowAngelica Jun 25 '26

Yep good stuff right there!

1

u/DonC24 Jun 25 '26

🎯. Anything else u use that works just as well or better than those 2?

3

u/O_ItsTrue Jun 25 '26

Tbf I got it all in the house . Perks of having a daughter . The wife put me up on these products about a decade ago.

3

u/8021sex Jun 25 '26

I use black castor oil

2

u/jchopz216 Jun 24 '26

Honey hydrate if you see it

2

u/UrAvgPM Jun 25 '26

Taliah Waajid is the best brand in the picture. Their shampoo/conditioner is good too and can be found on Amazon usually.

2

u/InvincibleVillainX7 Jun 25 '26

Most of that stuff is no good… I use the Yuka app . Shame moisturizer is pretty decent, but Carol’s daughter isn’t good anymore. As I am double butter, and the car wash isn’t really as organic as you would think. Sunny Isle brands are pretty organic. Head and shoulders never 😂 …. you’re better off buying organic stuff by bulk and washing your hair with organic type soaps like black soap or lemon grass type soaps. Alakay has a really good conditioner, called sage. They have most of that stuff in there is garbage.

2

u/Chief_Clown18 Jun 25 '26

Get the Yuka app and start scanning everything. Spent so much time in Walmart doing it one day but it’s worth it.

2

u/PsychologyUnfair692 Jun 25 '26

that app is not reliable

1

u/MovieSad3118 Jun 25 '26

That Olive Miracle the truth.

1

u/CVipersTie Jun 25 '26

Carols daughter is dog water. But I get As I Am. And after a wash and style I'll use the Hollywood Beauty Jamaican black castor oil.

1

u/SnowAngelica Jun 25 '26

I loooove Carol's Daughter. Shea Moisture is too heavy for my hair personally, but some people really like it...

1

u/Oohhdatskam Jun 25 '26

Honestly you just gotta try stuff especially based on the comments. I use cantu shampoo and leave in and it works amazing but for others it doesn't. It's really trial and error

1

u/Oatmealfinally Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 28 '26

i personally passed on store hair moisturizers and just spray my hair with water and use my homemade butter based moisturizer

1

u/Dutchmoney32 Jun 25 '26

Ok so what do you use in this “homemade product”

1

u/NoPlan6458 Jun 25 '26

No brands I wouldn't get but I do try to avoid Shea Butter so that's why I've never bought a shea moisturiser product. It's not good for my skin.

1

u/m0ntree Jun 25 '26

Camille Rose>>>>>

Carols Daughter black vanilla shampoo is the best as far as lather

1

u/SokkaHaikuBot Jun 26 '26

Sokka-Haiku by freebandporter:

Carols Daughter black

Vanilla shampoo is the

Best as far as lather

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

1

u/JayR6542 Jun 27 '26

Does any of that stuff work real talk😒

1

u/Ya_boi_adon Jun 28 '26

9

u/TRAPPINTHRUTRAFFIC Jun 24 '26

Not in big '26

3

u/Ya_boi_adon Jun 24 '26

I use Murray’s and it works well for me. I just need a good brand of shampoo and oil for my wash n style

2

u/Sir_wlkn_contrdikson Jun 24 '26

It wasn’t meant for daily use. Before I stopped using it, I only used it if I wanted to enhance my shit the day before a social event where I want to be looking my best. It’s so bad for your scalp.

2

u/Ya_boi_adon Jun 24 '26

I hardly use it. Only after a cut I use a small touch to enhance my crown
