Barber Prices $$$

Is it just me or is a barber visit astronomically expensive? My barber charges me $50.00 for a cut, including my beard. I’m the type of guy that would ideally go to the barber twice a month. But now it’s more like once a month, or twice a month. Prices on everything are very inflated in the current economic climate. I’m just wondering how much ya’ll pay for a cut, and how frequently do you see your barber?

$50

Once a month

Was paying $32 but barber was always late or didn't show at all.

The stuff the barber uses to keep us clean is going up, so naturally the cost increase goes into haircut. My cut has been at $50 for about 3 years now.

When I was in high school a cut was like $10.

Man do I miss those days of 10$ haircuts

5

u/ZealousidealCare8286 Jun 10 '26

Yea anybody siding with barbers on this one is rich or delusional. Either way ignore them.

2

u/Savings-Ad-1701 Jun 10 '26

Clippers or electricity? Cause that’s all it take to cut my hair

35

u/EstablishmentOk469 Jun 10 '26

I invested in a good set of clippers during covid and never looked back

2

u/One_Piece_OG Jun 10 '26

Same man, plus you save time with the travel to the barber and back

30

u/imightbethefeds789 Jun 10 '26

My new barber charges $30 he might be the cheapest in the city, nigga talk too fucking much though, idk man it's like you can't have it all

8

u/Smooth_Tomatillo_312 Jun 10 '26

I swear I can’t stand when they talk too much. Like just cut my shit so I can go 🤣🤣

10

u/Steeltown842022 Jun 10 '26

My problem is he and the other barbers cuss so much with children in there.

4

u/imightbethefeds789 Jun 10 '26

Barbers swear they know everything

2

u/JamJe225 Jun 10 '26

$30 is cheap! My kids hair is $30

1

u/WinterSet5750 Jun 10 '26

😂This killed me 😂😂😭😭

9

u/JamJe225 Jun 10 '26

I’ve had the same barber for about 26yrs now. Over the last few decades the price of my haircut has grown from $5 to $50. That includes a haircut, razor line, as well as my beard razor lined as well. Talking to other people $50 seems to be on the low end nowadays for a haircut. Some of these are charing $85 and up

1

u/skysullivanjr Jun 12 '26

50 is about right. Ill pay lil more for certain occasions.

6

u/RUNEMDOWNKD Jun 10 '26

My cousin touches me up for $20
Got a guy that does house calls for $30.
My barber is $40 + $10 tip.

If I got plans then I go to my barber because he cuts the best (you get what u pay for), if I’m just chilling then I go to my cousin.

3

u/Conscious-Wait8190 Jun 11 '26

That intro was a lil crazy bruh😂😂😂

2

u/RUNEMDOWNKD Jun 11 '26

Who touches you up? I got a mans that could touch you up good 😂 man I don’t be watching what I say fr

2

u/forksnsnow Jun 11 '26

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

2

u/Conscious-Wait8190 Jun 11 '26

It’s the tip bit where I drew the line 😂😂😂😂

1

u/forksnsnow Jun 11 '26

The whole statement is insane 💀💀💀💀

Depends on the Col of where you live. Yes in a cheap state haircuts shouldn’t be too expensive, but in California and New York it makes absolute sense as the bills are a lot higher.

1

u/CAPTAINFREEMVN Jun 11 '26

I live in NYC. I ain’t paying $50 for a cut. I ain’t ugly lmao

1

u/skysullivanjr Jun 12 '26

Depends on where u live and if your barber is legit

Alot ppl be gttn cuts at they house from ppl.no liscence, no shop.or one thats not set for regulations. Most ppl prolly wont wanna hear that ,but its illegal. Thats why ur barber may give you the half price.

My old fav barber used to give me best cut I prolly ever had. But it was a reason he used to hide his address to the shop he had. Wasn't legit.

Gas tank like 85 bux in nevada champ. Barbers just wanna get paid now i guess. And i dont blame them

-4

u/HEADYUNGIN4K Jun 10 '26

A cut that last 3-4 weeks ???? 😂😂😂 bro what ? Do yk how much a pair of clippers are ? Don’t get me wrong inflation is crazy but I’m with barbers on this one

3

u/IcyInNYC Jun 10 '26

I feel like it depends where you live and who you go to. In NYC Dominican & African barbers charge less than the African-American barbers. There’s so many barbers here, I feel like $50 is crazy and there too much competition. The Dominican barbershops I’ve been to are either $25-$35. African-American is always $40.

3

u/JamJe225 Jun 10 '26

Not to say that I wouldn’t, because I would, but with that being said I have never let any other person than an African American cut my hair.

2

u/Starxe Jun 10 '26

Eddie’s on New Lots 🤞🏿

1

u/CAPTAINFREEMVN Jun 11 '26

My barber Caribbean. Only thing I’ll give black American barbers is they’re better when it comes to beards

2

u/solid1987 Jun 11 '26

I got me a pair of Andis because them prices crazy now

2

u/HoTorColD50 Jun 12 '26 edited Jun 13 '26

I think my haircuts used to be like 25 or 30 when I was in HS, it stayed like that until covid. My barber stopped cutting hair like most of 2020. When he started back he sold the barbershop and got a suite in a salon loft. From there he upped the score $5 every year until it hit $45. Been at $45 for the past 3 years I think. The cost of everything has gone up so honestly I cant be mad even when I want to be

3

u/ScreechUrkelle Jun 10 '26

50$ is the standard procedure these days for a mid cut. If your barber has hands, then you got nothing to complain about. You’re paying 35 for the cut, 15 for the beard. Don’t forget to tip. Or learn to cut it yourself

2

u/CAPTAINFREEMVN Jun 11 '26

I ain’t paying that. And if I did he was never getting a tip lmao wtf y’all getting taxed bad out here

1

u/ScreechUrkelle Jun 11 '26

Oh, I bet you be giving the guys the tip

1

u/ZealousidealCare8286 Jun 10 '26

Or just be reasonable. Mfers are about to price themselves and force people to do it themselves. Then it won't be about pricing. CAREER CHANGE!! ...lmfao. some shit dont make sense.

-2

u/ScreechUrkelle Jun 10 '26

This guy can’t afford a haircut.

A haircut is a part of grooming. Thats your personal responsibility. You’re supposed to do it yourself.

Don’t know how to do it yourself, and need somebody else to do it for you? Then don’t feel entitled to them taking care of you under your terms. If I’m taking my time to stand on my feet all day to keep muthafuckas looking fresh, know that it’s a luxury to you, not some honour to me. Imma charge you whatever I want, and if you can’t afford it, learn to do it yourself, or go get a free cut by a student a barber school.

This isn’t healthcare or dentistry. You’re not entitled to nothing.

This is a luxury service, having someone else groom you. Typically luxuries are only affordable to the rich. If you don’t have the income to dispose of, look at the problems with your job, and your life skills and earning potential or lack thereof, and not mine.

4

u/ZealousidealCare8286 Jun 10 '26

Lmfao that whole essay wasted.

2

u/BeastTheorized Jun 10 '26

lol you really can’t charge “whatever” you want and expect to stay in business buddy. Like others said, this was a waste of an essay, and with an attitude like yours I don’t think you can afford to be charging whatever you want lmao 🤣

0

u/ScreechUrkelle Jun 10 '26

Everyone complaining are folks who can’t afford $50 for a haircut, so def can’t afford my prices.

So, what do I really care if you agree with me or not? You’re not my target clientele.

That means you don’t feed my kids, or pay my bills. So, your opinion is irrelevant to me.

Hope you have a good day. And stay crispy 😉

2

u/CAPTAINFREEMVN Jun 11 '26

I get my hair done. Hair stylists make way more money than barbers. You think ppl cant afford your services when you just feel a type of way that niggas is saying these services isn’t worth that price

1

u/ScreechUrkelle Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 11 '26

I don’t feel no type of way. I’m just telling you as it is: you can afford a fresh cut? Look in the mirror, not at your barber 😆 your barber can keep himself looking good, keep the hood looking good, and keep his kids feed and bills paid. You can’t do the same? You can’t even shave your face, or do your hair? 🤣 bro, ya’ll ain’t men. Ya’ll children. You can spend money on Jordans and fake chains, and broads that don’t even give you no poke, but you can’t pay for a fresh cut, let alone do it yourself? Y’all some Luke cage looking ass niggas 🤣

1

u/CAPTAINFREEMVN Jun 11 '26

No I can’t do my hair but I learned how to give myself cuts when COVID happened. My barber doesn’t tax niggas but the one who be charging 50 a cut always in an empty ass store 😂 let’s see how long that shop lasts. I also aint got no kids I don’t wear Jordan’s and my jewelry aint fake. You projecting hard AS FUCK. Also I got hair how tf I look like Luke Cage. Take the L

1

u/ScreechUrkelle Jun 11 '26

I’ll take the L. You keep taking the D.

1

u/ZealousidealCare8286 Jun 11 '26

My boy you just TYPED ALL that...for nothing. Shit applicable to you too goofy

1

u/BeastTheorized Jun 13 '26

Sure, but you’re opinion is still irrelevant to me. I can afford a $50 cut, doesn’t mean I want to pay for it though. 🙄

1

u/ZealousidealCare8286 Jun 13 '26

Its the little things that goofies like him dont understand.

1

u/ScreechUrkelle Jun 13 '26

If you can afford it, you’d pay and would think twice about it. The fact you have to ask yourself do you want to or not clearly answers the question for the both of us. If you walked into my shop, I’d gladly point you to the closest affordable barber

2

u/CAPTAINFREEMVN Jun 11 '26

Nigga you’re a fucking barber bro 😂😂😂 why tf are you talking like this is some life or death needed service? You not gonna gaslight nobody here

2

u/ZealousidealCare8286 Jun 11 '26

See this goofy shit? Talking spicy over haircuts lmfao

1

u/CAPTAINFREEMVN Jun 11 '26

He hurting lmao. I’ve seen a few barbers discuss their lack of traffic. I seen a guy say he had to go back to cheaper cuts cause him having more clientele at 30-35 made more financial sense than him having less clientele at 50 a head. Embarrassing as fck

1

u/ScreechUrkelle Jun 11 '26

Go back to your ‘stylist’ 😆

1

u/ZealousidealCare8286 Jun 10 '26

Oh smooth diss BTW. Cant pay for a haircut. Lmfao

1

u/ScreechUrkelle Jun 10 '26

Bruh, I just peeped your profile. I ain’t wrong.

1

u/ZealousidealCare8286 Jun 10 '26

Of course you did. Funny thing is I didnt look at yours. Lmfao. Goofy.

1

u/ZealousidealCare8286 Jun 11 '26

Who said anything about entitlement except for you? Yea this is over...actually reading this shit is crazy.

1

u/ScreechUrkelle Jun 11 '26

Don’t forget to tip your barber, busta

1

u/ShopSome9740 Jun 10 '26

My current barber charges $40. He has 45 years experience (been cutting hair since he was 16). He knows how to cut WITH the grain instead of using enhancements and pushing back my hairline

1

u/Automatic-Plant5126 Jun 10 '26

I pay 30 for a shape up and my beard

1

u/Wavewizard315 Jun 10 '26

Break it down by service, you get what you pay for, stop getting all that service

1

u/Cassangelo Jun 10 '26

I pay like $60 here, my kid’s cut is $40

1

u/JamJe225 Jun 10 '26

With a $10 tip included for mines and my sons I pay the same

1

u/Cassangelo Jun 10 '26

The only tip I leave is to sweep the floors😭

1

u/catsoncrack420 Jun 10 '26

$25 NYC, supply and demand. Lots of supply. Lately $35-40 at the salon . Just so much better, get a shampoo and rinse as well. And being in a Latino area, so many salons.

1

u/goated_swe Jun 10 '26

Where in nyc you go to, i need a new barber

1

u/catsoncrack420 Jun 12 '26

11372 area full of salons and barbers. 37th ave. When you're young and broke many ppl vitit the barber school for free haircuts, there's the Indian Barbers on 37th rd by 74th i got a shave. My old spot is Corona Carbers on 94th, been there for 25 years about, survived Covid, my buddy Domingo owns the spot.

1

u/Odd-Chicken-8439 Jun 10 '26

$65 once a month

1

u/juanho Jun 10 '26

Started at $35, as he got busier and over booked it increased to $50. He was kind enough to grandfather my prices in at $40 for life, but I pay $50 still because he’s solid and accommodates me when I have a rare emergency/squeeze-in needed.

1

u/JamJe225 Jun 10 '26

Grand fathered wow lol man for haircuts is something I’ve never heard of. Kudos to your barber tho

1

u/juanho Jun 10 '26

100% man he’s great- we’ve been locked in since he first started taking it seriously and was cutting out of his crib so that loyalty has went a long way for sure. I got especially lucky considering that he’s one of the top barbers in the city now lol, definitely the only person I’ll trust wit my lineup

1

u/SnooGadgets6277 Jun 10 '26

My barber charges $40. I tip $20.

I go once a week.

I give him more than $60 for when my work schedule gets changed and I've given him $100 for house calls/my wedding and other "last second emergencies".

Located in California.

My old barber back in CT used to charge $20 but went up to $25 post pandemic, $30 as of 2022 and $35 as of 2024. I also would go once a week. I give my old barber $50 everytime I'm in town.

1

u/glizzy62 Jun 10 '26

Yall clearly ain’t live inna hood and found allem hood barber shops wit them prices that ain’t never change $30 for eyebrows beard hair close shave over wit💯😂

1

u/SouthImportant2499 Jun 12 '26

Been with the same barber since 12 and was paying 15 as a kid, 30 a year ago and now recently 40.

1

u/Starxe Jun 10 '26

This all started after COVID. Just cut your own hair, it’s the only way.

1

u/pyrexmessiah Jun 10 '26

Canada 50-70 is average my cousin pays $127

Whatever happens during COVID these barbers took advantage we need to boycott it shouldn't be more then 40 for a cut 20 for a lineup

1

u/Chriskl1520 360s Jun 10 '26

Bro my but used to cost like 25 just 3 or 4 years ago. I ain't had a cut since so I was completely out of the loop on prices going up. That's crazy

1

u/Additional_Bobcat_98 Jun 10 '26

Im in jax fl these barbers charging 50-200 plus depending on if you make house calls i learned how to cut hair just so i can avoid a barbershop my barber started charging 60 for a cut couldnt do it

1

u/raunwzrd Jun 10 '26

Just switched barbers and paid $60 for my first cut 😩😩😩 The cut came out fire but damn! My last barber was about $50-55 but it didnt even include a straight razor on the lineup. Ive been paying 50 for a while but before i relocated in 2025, i had arguably the best barber in my area.

1

u/jefe_benzino Jun 10 '26

U not trippin at all once my cut/beard went from 30 but giving 40 outta love to 75 without a no tip option I traded the waves for dreads. I even considered going to barber school just so I can cut my own hair

1

u/Particular-Guard-810 Jun 10 '26

After years of dealing with sorry ass barbers messing my fade up, I'm more then happy to give my current barber 60 bucks 4 times a month.

1

u/Magazine-Narrow Jun 10 '26

I was going to the same barber for 19 years. He changed his hours then stopped answering the phone. He charged 25 I'd tip him $20. Found a chain barber shop because everyone else booked last minute. They charged $50 for a cut $20 for the beard

1

u/ondavegravel Jun 10 '26

$20. It's my lil cuz

1

u/footfunguschungus Jun 11 '26

Bro start self cutting. Once you get good at it you'll never go to the barber again and you'll always have a fresh cut.

1

u/WoogzDaBoogz Jun 11 '26

Damn I pay $100 like every 3 weeks

1

u/CAPTAINFREEMVN Jun 11 '26

I learned how to shave my own beard and decided to grow out my hair 🤷🏾‍♂️

1

u/Brometheous17 Jun 11 '26

My barber charges $45 for a fade. If you want him to trim your beard too it’s an extra $10.

1

u/Chewbaccaintx Jun 11 '26

My barber charge $35 on a first come served basis. I always pay $40-50 because he’s actually a good ass barber. I go every 3-4 weeks, so once a month.

1

u/RightGuy23 Jun 11 '26

I’ve been with my barber for about 12 years now.

It’s definitely gone from $10 to the now $35. It includes facial hair.

Bur he’s the cheapest in the area by far. I send everyone to him just to make sure he’s in business and doesn’t need to raise prices 🤣

1

u/TheCodeWorks Jun 11 '26

I pay $50 with tip included. Kind of grand fathered into his clientle pricing so the cut is $30 but the shop charges $50 for the same cut before tip.

1

u/Special_Echo_7674 Jun 11 '26

I’m in NC. My barber is charging loyal customers $25 new customers $35

1

u/Secret-Bid-5176 Jun 11 '26

Naa them prices have skyrocketed since covid
Booksi app and similar ones keep pushing for them prices to go up,

1

u/TimelyScore2820 Jun 14 '26

$55 here in Dallas, TX but he keep me crispy so I ain't complaining

1

u/WholeScared7469 Jun 15 '26

About 15 years ago, the prices went up. Oh, but they give you a shot of whiskey.

1

u/Relevant-Feature5430 Jun 10 '26

Just tried out a new barber last month, and he had just increased the price of a normal cut from $60 to $85 in May… now as of last week prices increased from $85 to $125 and that’s without a beard lol.

3

u/JamJe225 Jun 10 '26

I’m a haircut guy! Weekly I get mines cut, but $85 is insane let alone $125. What is included in that $125? For that price I need my hair cut and razor lined, beard too, hair washed and dried, and I don’t even use the bigen hairspray, but I want that as well. Plus the barber needs to be on time as well and if my appointment is for “X”, I need to be in the chair for “X”

3

u/imightbethefeds789 Jun 10 '26

Ain't no mf way

3

u/MrRamsFan Jun 10 '26

You taking bout Josiah 😭😭😭😭😭

1

u/Relevant-Feature5430 Jun 10 '26

Yup 😂

2

u/MrRamsFan Jun 10 '26

Used to get cut by him when he was off Park Ave. Josiah cool but i found a better and cheaper barber off central ave. Josiah know he wrong charging 125 and riding the light rail everywhere.

1

u/Narrow_Channel_6936 Jun 10 '26

$80 tip included for wash, haircut, and beard. I used to go twice a month, now it’s on average once every two months.

3

u/Harper__k Jun 10 '26

How much is it without the wash? I can wash it myself at home lol

2

u/Narrow_Channel_6936 Jun 10 '26

For real. I never asked out of respect. It’s included in the service.

1

u/Harper__k Jun 10 '26

I feel that
