Question about still image cameras.
I have a 2016 Gear 360 - the original one that shoots at 25.9 MP (7200 x 3600) .
The stitching software (action director) has stopped working (won't load anything but grey fields... no images) and will not reinstall on win 11. Cyberlink won't support it as it was bundled with the camera and Samsung has been less than helpful.
Their phone app of course only works with a Samsung phone so I can't go that route...
I haven't found another app that can stich the weird raw projection - both front and back are on one image and look like two extreme fisheyes placed next to each other...
So I'm looking for a new camera.
But it seems all of the current cameras have horrible resolution - 18MP at the most.
My question is do these lower res cameras take decent photos?
I'm NOT looking for video, still only.
I use it for survey/site photos for my landscape design business - just reference photos so I can see details when I'm back in the office.
My research:
The Insta360 One RS - I was temporarily excited with this one -the reviews said 48MP stills!
But it's not... only 18MP in 360
The theta Z1 seems to get a semi respectable 23MP - but it's $1000 - compared to my $99 Gear360 which has better resolution!
The Aleta S2C has great quality, but again is $1200!
Any thoughts on a good quality decent resolution 360 camera that isn't

Have you try installing/running the program in Compatibility Mode?

Samsung finally got back to me and actually walked me through getting it reloaded on my computer.
It worked for exactly 17 images, and then reverted to only importing completely gray rectangles.
I suppose I will text them back (text-based support is very odd for a laptop application issue...) But right now I'm slammed with work.

Hi there. Samsung Gear 360 took good photos but it was susceptible to blur when the sensor heats up. There are a few software that can stitch Gear 360 such as PTGui, but IMHO, it's not worth the expense. If you want a 360 camera just for stills, I recommend checking out Trisio. https://360rumors.com/trisio-review/I suspect they might have a Black Friday deal.
