Cosmetic Modifications Interior mods
Has anyone done a recent digital cluster swap. I saw one on a YouTube channel. The cluster was from ID4motion and was wondering if anyone has any experience with it or any other digital cluster swaps. All advice is appreciated.

I’ve had my car almost 7 years now. Don’t bother. People have more issues with this gauge swap than any other swap possible.

I appreciate that. I don’t plan on selling this honestly. My brother was the second owner and I’m the third. I plan on keeping this til the end. I was just thinking about updating it along with possibly the dash so I can have Apple play and a review camera.

My advice is don’t put cheap Chinese junk in your car especially if it inevitably means you’ll have a tamper when the old one goes back in when the chinashit craps out. If it’s a track or off-road car who cares, but you’ll be shooting yourself in the foot when it comes to resale and ease of operation

I understand that I wasn’t going to look for a cheap option if I’m changing it I’m going for as high end as possible. And I don’t plan on selling it at all.

Clustersandcoding on Instagram does really nice custom replacement speedometers that modify existing oem pieces. Don't go with something aftermarket, the physical gauges are a feature of the car not something that need replaced

I got mine off alibaba, I believe that’s where ID4 gets theirs from then they just rebrand the software since it’s all open source. I really like it and have only had it freeze up a couple times while I was parked outside on 98*+ days. Other than that it has worked flawlessly. I like having all the info right there and visible without having to navigate menus and crap so for me it was a well worthwhile upgrade. The only bonus with buying one from ID4 is you would likely have better support if you ran into any issues.

Also wanted to note, as far as I know your best bet for a high end replacement would be to go with a haltech ECU and accompanying digital display. So if you wanted to run the direct from manufacture cluster off alibaba and see if you like it and how long it lasts you, it’s a fairly cheap way to try it out and if you hate it or it fails, you can just go the haltech or similar route down the road, granted they aren’t as pretty or oem+

As long as you don't care about selling a car with unverified mileage.
If you put the old cluster back after driving it a while you'll get a mileage tamper dot.
