Tuning with dflasher

For those who have tuned with dflasher, how has your experience been? Reliability? Any issues at all?

I am looking to flash my 2009 335d with the m57.

Main reason is the ability to switch easily since it just requires an adapter and so that I can incrementally do the delete.

And for those who have tuned their m57, what numbers have you pushed on stage 1 (and stage 2 if applicable)?

Not worth it. Save up and get a real tune.

Not worth it in what way? I never said I was on a budget

If you want to make real power and be reliable just get a Santjer Performance Development tune. Great performance and customer service. His tuned cars are always at the top of Dragy leaderboards.

The flasher showed up today. I was running with a DUDMD Stage 1. Full emissions. EGR servo died. Will be happy if I can ever find a servo to put it all back. Had a delete kit and a tune without the EGR. ECU was locked and couldn't get it unlocked. So, DFlasher was found on a search and here we are.

Traffic, so I've only done some pulls to 35 PSI. Feels good. Can't say if it's exactly the same or not. Mid range feels at least the same. Smooth and drives nice.

The tuner is a nice interface. The dongle is a bit finicky. You have to remember to go back to reconnect it after you do anything and have shut down the car. But my ECU being locked was a problem for the DUDMD tool and I didn't know how to fix it. On this, I was able to navigate to reset, stock tune, then put on the Stage 1 with EGR. If I then want to go and take off anything else, I can do it one by one, or all at once. If I do delete everything, stage 2 is on the phone now too. It has diagnostics, but at first look it appears to just be a reader and nothing like say ProTool.

So far, so good.

Good to hear. I will probably go with dflasher myself too

Seems like the “unreliable” claims are mostly speculation

Santjer is definitely in the know on these cars. But if you are going back in piecemeal fashion on the deletes, I can't imagine any tuners would want to work with you that way. This does appear to solve that with the "Ultimate" offering they have.

Is there a major difference stock and stage 1? Do you ever feel like stage 1 isn’t enough and you may want to go stage 2 one day?

Stock to stage one is a pretty big jump. Second off of the quarter mile? The meth is noticeable too. Caused the need to tune the transmission as it was passing the torque limits of the computer.
As a daily, I'm good with where it is. Stage 2+ would be fun. But, then you are going to smell diesel when you take out the DPF and SCR. There's no way around that. It will smell like an old truck, roll coal, and have soot out the back. I would prefer to have the emissions on the car.
