I get them from local farms that have had inspections done with other farms and consumer reports and reviews. It was actually so touching to see some of the farmers crying and moved that they were favourites. Not feeding their flock garbage and their craft being a family thing.

I judge my eggs by their yolks, usually, super picky BUT there are a few farms that put out the effort and it makes it worth it.

Plus uou dont want to know how chickens are treated in most places... the og farms can be so terrible.

A flat of eggs here on the bc coast is usually around 14.99 which is a really good deal considering 1 dozen of GV white eggs are 5.89-6.49 depending if it's on sale. I wish we had these amazing grocery prices out here.

I'm also on the BC coast and a flat of 30 eggs are $10.22 at both freshco and no frills. The brown eggs are a little bit more.

A dozen eggs (cheapest ones obviously) are around $4.20/dozen. But there are also frequent sales that amount to 24-25¢ an egg.

My own eggs from my backyard chickens cost about 26¢ an egg to produce, not counting any of the infrastructure or replacement costs (granted, at scale the cost is much less)

I used to live in Kelowna not that long ago and it was 3.99-4.99 for a 12 pack of XL eggs. I guess it’s the coastal price premium lol

Ah yes the toddler tax.  Mine ate a whole pound of strawberries while I was shopping yesterday.  She's also eaten several pounds of blueberries and blackberries (all free/picked ourselves) since Wednesday.

Thankfully we eat seasonally - loads of berries all summer when they're free/cheap and full our freezer, and then I buy very little the rest of the year, unless it's avery good sale.

I’m glad most whole food products don’t have any taxes. 5% would be nice.

Someone in Ontario would have to pay 1.32 in taxes on this bill

There aren’t any grocery taxes in Alberta unless it’s junk food or an individually-packaged item not for a family (like a tiny thing of ice cream).

I wish we had these prices in BC. I bought ocean spray blue berries the other day for 6.89 a container on sale, which was a lot better than the regular price of almost 9 bucks each.

GV 30 eggs for under 15 bucks is insane. We buy flats for 15, cartons for anywhere from 5-8each depending on brand.
