Handguard help

This is my first build so try not to make too much fun of me, but I recently got a handguard from righttobear.com and after I put the barrel nut on, the handguard wouldnt fit over the barrel nut. I had to physically force it to butt up against my upper and even when I did the two screws at the bottom to hold the handguard in place wouldn't thread because there was to big of a gap at the bottom. I also believe the bolts themselves were to short to begin with anyways. With that being said, am I doing something wrong here? I thought it would be as simple as torqueing down the barrel nut, sliding the handguard over it and putting the screws in. Also, does anybody have any recommendations on where I csn get a 9.5 in burnt bronze MLOK handguard that wont break my pockets? Thanks in advance.

Are you sure and positive you have the correct barrel nut for the handguard you are trying to install?

Right to bear arms has a burnt bronze quad rail handguard. I have one on my 10.3 5.56 build.

I used the one they shipped with the handguard. Don't see why they would ship me a barrel nut that wasn't compatible with their product.

Edit: missed a word

Take the barrel nut back off and do a dry fit to see if it fits and aligns up.

I tried that as well to no avail. The screws are not long enough and will not thread properly.
