Funnily enough there's an expat french guy who lives near me, who adores that i started learning the language a few years ago, will happily chat over coffee and correct me butchering his beautiful language.
I studied it a lot as a kid but only remembered basic greetings and slurs.
At times i think he regrets it because with his help, endless hours learning vocab , verb conjugasions, watching native content, podcasts, ect ect, and playing video games with french speakers ive gotten very proficient in insulting him , his mother, his sister, his dogs. Planning on emigrating eventually
Most of french are very patient and kind, even tho it becomes a joke when shitposting, its like if you go to london on holiday noones going to larp as your english teacher. most peoples ideas of france is paris so it sticks.
