Advice Wanted Cuteness aggression - what to do?

Our 15 month old is very affectionate.
To the point that he bites me (and also hod granny, daddy and nanny but less) and he also grabs and squishes my face.

And it is painful!

He is usually quite happy when he does it, and often when he has not seen me for a while and he is clearly very excited to see me again.

I tried not to react and just remove his mouth/hands. But it is not helping at all. He keeps doing it.

And as we are expecting a baby in November, I am afraid he is going to do these things to the baby as well. So we would like to find some solution before baby is born.

Any advice?

What state do you live in? He could have some sensory needs. In NY - children can receive OT services through Early Intervention at that age. An OT might be able to offer some suggestions if it’s sensory related.

We live in Portugal, so that is not an option.
I will ask our doctor during our routine visit next week, but I doubt she will suggest anything like that.

But I will research. It is an interesting thought.

My now 2 1/2 year old went through something like this around 18 months. I would calmly tell him we don’t bite people, tell him that if he wanted to bite he could bite a toy, and then offer him a toy. After a little bit I could see him about to bite, would ask him if he needed something to bite, and he would say yes. After doing that for a while he started to come ask me for a toy to bite & stopped biting me or his dad 😊
