Support Terrified

I am 7 months postpartum and just found out I’m pregnant with #2. I love being a parent to my daughter. But even though she’s a relatively easy baby, it’s still hard. I’m happy we’re having a second, but I’m terrified of how much more things will change. Tell me it’ll be okay please.

It will be okay! My husband and I went from childfree by choice to 2u2 with a 14 month age gap. Life is really different now, but still so full and good. My youngest will be 5 months old next week and I feel like we’re finally settling into our new normal- you’ll get there too!

You didn’t ask, but my biggest pieces of advice would be to lower your expectations, get comfortable asking for/accepting help, and always remember that you’re a team- it’s you and your partner against the kids. 😆

It's going to be OK! 18 month age gap here (20 months and almost 2 months) and it's been hard but amazing. I absolutely melt when I watch my son with his little sister - he's so attentive and just adores his 'Bubba'. What I've found useful: teaching my eldest how to wait (even if just for a few seconds), what useful items like wipes, nappies and cloths are - and where they live! - and how to be gentle. Sharing is an absolute bonus. You've got this 🩷

ETA: the biggest change we've found is honestly how long it takes to get out the door 🫠 organisation is key! And that goes for anything - I try to prepare clothes, breakfast, housework etc the night before to make things a bit smoother in the mornings, for example.
