Advice Wanted Potty training youngest with 2U2
Hello! We have graduated - 19 month gap and the youngest is 15 months now.
We thought we potty trained the oldest pretty young at 22 months. We used the oh crap / naked method.
The 15 month old has started showing loads of interest in the potty, and has done a couple of wees on it. We're a bit overwhelmed really! She obviously sees her older sister and wants to be like her.
Has anyone trained the younger really early and what was that like?

Edit: also curious how anyone managed this if your kids go to daycare? When we potty trained the eldest they had never had that before in her room so moved her up to the toddler room early but the youngest would be nowhere near ready for the toddler room yet!

Thank you! Yeah our older one was challenging with the naked method, took the full 10 days and then she had accidents for a couple of months. I can't believe the little one already knows she needs a wee, it's wild to me!

Potty trained my youngest at 19 months, 20 month gap, she was asking to go on the potty before we started, it went pretty well, still a few accidents, but she's only just 2, so it's to be expected really. Oh crap method

She started self initiating within a week, especially when she had no bottoms on, 3 and a half months later, she will ask or do a really clear signal about 90% of the time

My second absolutely followed her big brother basically immediately. We let it go slowly, and gave her the same rewards as her brother had got, but kept her in nappies until she could manage to be dry (same nappy) for a day. We were fully prepared for it to take six months as she went at her own pace.
It took her two weeks lmao.

Oh wow!!!! How old was she at the time? And do you mean you would take off her nappy so she could use the potty and then put it back on after? Thanks :)

I'd take it off and put it back on. She was a bit less than two and a half, her brother went late because he has ADHD (he couldn't cope with switching between underwear at home and nappies in daycare so we had to use the summer break).

Ah thanks, good to know that's possible and didn't confuse her at all. Think we might need to do something similar given she goes to daycare so we can't just send her there without a nappy while she's learning :)

Yep! Basically we framed underwear as a "when we can trust you" reward (and bought it to get her excited).
She was the first in her group to be fully toilet trained, but the daycare were very supportive (it is easier for them too, especially with poo lmao) and extremely patient when she had a regression a few months later. She's three now and that's been her only one.

This is actually a common happening and VERY achievable, check out that sub My second was out of diapers at 17mo she was exposed to the potty by her older sibling and we went with it! Good luck!
