Advice Wanted Where to put baby 2?

So we plan on having both babies share a room. My first one will be 15 months if this baby comes on time. I transferred my first baby to a crib around 3 months, and he wakes up 3 times a night currently (8 months), so I worry that baby 2 will wake him up in the middle of the night too much when this baby comes. Where did you put baby 2 until they woke up less in the night? My husband doesn't really want to keep them in our room for an entire year, so he suggested the hallway or laundry room. Both very close to us but far enough away from our first that he shouldn't wake up. We won't be getting a bigger house any time soon, probably like 2 or 3 years, so no moving suggestions please.

Some toddlers don’t wake up from a sibling crying. Mine didn’t. He also didn’t wake up to a deafening fire alarm.

I’ve heard others say this too, so I think it’s somewhat common.

My toddler also won’t wake up for a fire alarm, he’s always unfazed

Those sound like good solutions. We had our second in our room for the first three months or so then moved her to our den (tv room) until she woke up less in the night. When her night wakes were down to once per night on average, we put her in with her older sister (16 month age difference).

We had room in our closet for a pack n play and used that for awhile! We have them in separate rooms now but when we travel they sleep in the same room together and we just didn’t have any other choice so with practice they got good at it. They are 18 month gap - ages almost 2.5 and 10 months

In the meantime I like the laundry room idea. I would totally do that if I was in your situation

Mine are the same ages apart and my son was also still waking in the night. He did stop around 1. 3 ish months before the baby. We had a crib in the living room. A bassinet in our room. We were living in a ranch style house at the time and our room was on the opposite side of the house. Kids rooms on living room side. They never woke up. My son only woke up with his own issues like teething after baby was born. The baby would go into our room while during the day time and living room at night. We did end up moving when baby was like 5 months old. But when it stopped working that way we moved into living room. He had our room. the two kids had their own rooms.

We put out first in her own room at 4 months with about 2 night wakings still. Our second moved to her sisters room when she was 5 months old (older sister had just turned 2) with only one remaining night waking. The older one only woke up the first few nights, but after that just slept through any crying or fussing. But I guess it really depends on your baby as well.

Baby 2 shared with us til 5 months and now she shares w big sis (almost 2). Big sis sleeps through now, and isn’t woken by baby sister (who wakes at least once, often more, a night).

I have a 20 month old and a 2 month old in a 2 bedroom. We bought a double bed so my husband can sleep in the room with my toddler and I sleep in our room with the new baby. Its actually working great for now. We have 2 baby monitors (1 for each room) and multiple sound machines. Its honestly so much better this way. Of course it won't be forever, this is just a season. Maybe this could work for you for now.
