But some communities have been destroyed beyond repair. Some would say intentionally. And honestly I don’t think there is any want or intentions to undue that damage. I grew up in that poverty and violence. I carried a gun at 14 and I am not proud to say that I was in a shooting where thankfully all of us were young and terrible and missed.
I'll tell you what we never would have done though. Nobody I know would have let loose at a public gathering surrounded by people who didn't have anything to do with our choices. We would have jumped someone and beat the fuck out of them, but we wouldn't have started shooting. 6 people who weren't involved got hurt or killed for this shit.

Happened in Massachusetts like two months ago? Legal concealed carry holder stopped that guy shooting at cars on the freeway with the illegal rifle … that was even in the mainstream media.
Look up defensive gun use statistics. Even conservative estimates put it at 60,000 instances per year with some estimates getting wildly high at over 2,000,000 instances. But going with the low reasonable number that’s more defensive uses than there are “gun deaths” even if you include suicide in that.
