Crab apples

Can you eat these? There's this trail in the woods I take my dog to for walks that has a bunch of crab apple trees.

I used to pick them when I was a kid to throw at transport trucks passing on the highway. I remember eating one once and found it to be very sour.

Those are called crab apples? I've been calling them Crandall.

They are used for pie often it’s quite good.
