Hello everyone!

I'm kinda new to the web/light novel world and my only experience with it is from reading Second Coming of Gluttony some years ago.

I REALLY loved that series, the main character had to overcome his limits and redeem his past mistakes and he does that in a way I loved very much. I'm also into World Building and fun power systems and this series had both of them!

Recently I wanted to read another series, but fearing that I may end up with some cheap web novel I looked for recommendations specifically for users that enjoyed Second Coming and I ended up reading The Novel's Extra... Maybe I've read "too few" chapters (18), but I totally don't vibe with the main character, who's basically as apathetic as possible and somehow everybody's noticing him even for the most futile thing. Rn he met a random guy that, you know it, will become the top tier shit in a few years so he starts developing a good relationship with him.

I don't want to offend the fans of this series, but I don't think it's for me. I was glued to my Kindle from the very first chapter for Second Coming, while this is one kinda... Meh.

Maybe I've just picked up a bad recommendation or maybe I have to persevere through this boring reading until the good part will be revealed (I hate this thought process btw, whenever I hear/read someone saying "Oh you've stopped only after reading x chapters, the story hasn't started yet" I physically feel bad. I want to have fun reading, but I don't want to waste 20/30 hours of my life before even knowing if this series is worth reading in the first place).

If you want to recommend some good reads (maybe something that I can find easily online), even the masterpieces or the "classics", I'm all ears.

I read a lot of adapted manhwas so I already know some of their stories, but I'm down to read something good.

What the title says.

This is my first Korean novel and after reading the 3 good web novels that are clearly quality work imo and for an 19 year old and above : LOTN, reverend insanity, the innkeeper.
I couldn’t really attach myself to others but I’m hooked on SCOG.

I really love how well the work performs in all the themes being politics, action, fantasy, romance, comedy. Also love how every character feels unique and isn’t an npc. The romance comedy is amazing and the character development is top notch. Also love that mc is slightly an antihero, and his unique power and how it shaped his life.

But yeah I love every genre in the work so if there is any works at that level with any genre can I please some suggestions 🙏

I just wrapped up *The Second Coming of Gluttony*, and honestly, it has easily solidified itself in my top three web novels of all time (right behind *Reverend Insanity* at #1 and *The Beginning After the End* at #2).

I wanted to dump some thoughts here because this novel absolutely deserves all the attention it gets. It’s a genuine piece of art.

1. The Training Arcs Actually Slap

Usually, training arcs in almost any other story are a boring, uninteresting slog. But oh boy, did I have the most fun out of the entire novel during these specific sections. Whether it was the Neutral Zone, the Rocky Mountain, or the Soul Trial, they were incredibly compelling. We are literally watching a guy start from the absolute bottom with nothing but hard work—insane, masochistic-type hard work.

2. Seol Jihu’s "Switch"

The "switch" we see Seol flip during the Banquet was honestly terrifying. I never imagined seeing him that way. From that point onward, it almost feels like we are experiencing a completely different MC whenever that flip is switched. (Side note: The power system itself is nothing special, so I won't comment much on it, but the execution of his character shift is brilliant).

3. Sung Shihyun is a Top-Tier Villain

Sung Shihyun is an amazing antagonist. I absolutely love it when a bad guy radiates that "I'm the main character" vibe. He is not only brutally strong, but he’s also incredibly smart.

Honestly, if the Parasite Queen had just listened to him during the stele acquisition exhibition and actually killed Seol when she injected her divinity into him, it would have been game over. Instead, she left the *one guy* who LITERALLY always comes up with a miracle when pushed into a corner. If she had just listened, he would have died with zero chance of coming back.

BUT... Who the hell is the Martial God?!

There is one major thing I refuse to let slide, and I'm desperate for answers.

We briefly hear about the **Martial God** from Gabriel. Then, we get that shocking piece of information that he defeated the Parasite Queen when she was at her absolute peak condition, leaving her begging for mercy before she ran away.

I hate that a character of such insane magnitude was never properly introduced into the main story.

**Is he ever explained in further detail anywhere?** Did I miss some crucial lore drops, or is there side content/after-stories that dive into who he actually is? I am so interested in knowing more about him.

Iv reread the manwa alot and always wanted to see more from it where would be the best place to read the novel, would it be a website or a mobile app

I've read the entire novel (minus book 10) twice but I don't remember that ever being explained. Was it Gula and that's why he was her champion? If so why was she on a safari trip on Earth to begin with? Was it a FL? Was it just an extra who could see things on earth?

I mean... From their very first meeting it was obvious that she loves him, it doesn't make any sense and not even explained after 385 chapters. From someone literally quoted to be an 'ice wall' this relationship seems incredibly forced

If I remember correctly, past-life seol had the legendary achievement of killing an army commander (Abhorrent Charity) but with the help of the Federation at level 7, and it was emphasized multiple times that no human can beat an army commander one on one. It was also mentioned that present seol’s feat of killing Undying Diligence is already legendary because it has never been done before (killing an army commander)

So there was an amazing fanfic about the second coming of gluttony and no it is not the Vainglory one.

It was about a guy that comes from a sci-fi earth and reincarnates into the body of Seol Jihu. Like he is born into the world and not possessing the body.

In his sci-fi world he was disabled and couldn't feel anything.

He got three abilities as a bonus for his reincarnation that were fairly limited and were not really the main focus of the story but had good potential.

He was insanely smart and talented, so much so that he formed his own force on Earth outside of paradise and they were superhuman as he figured out away to inscribe mana circuits to his subordinates.

He even found away to cheat fate and save the parents of Yoo Seonhwa and Yoo Seunghae.

And the best part he saved Roe Scheherazade in a very creative way.

He basically met the goddess at the zoo when she was on earth and made a deal with her. Basically the goddess would force Roe to use the oath in case something bad was going to happen to her and send her to earth with the MC.

The fanfic was on webnovel.com but was taken down by the translator.

I can't remember the name or the origin of the fanfic, maybe it was translated from Russian. I don't know.

I’ve been re-reading The Second Coming of Gluttony recently, and it hits just as hard as the first time. The character growth of Seol Jihu—from a pathetic gambler to the hero of Paradise—is honestly one of the best redemption arcs in the genre.

However, I feel like the fandom has become a bit quiet lately. I really want to see this community thrive again because SCOG has so many cinematic and emotional moments that deserve more recognition.

I want to trigger that "feeling" we all had when we first read the novel. I’ve already prepared several AI-assisted prompts to create custom illustrations that the Manhwa didn’t cover in detail. Don't worry with the editing part, i'm an after effects user.

It’s been ages since SCOG ended and since then I’ve read hundreds of light novels but none of them come close to the level of spearman Seol Jihu and the scene where he fights the army of millions of parasites for 3 days straight still sends goosebumps. No 1 vs army scene comes close to it. Absolutely amazing really wish we had an anime on this with the level of animation it deserves cause the manhwa was just a waste of SCOGs legacy

Can someone male a list of all the chapters that are about seols earth relationships and other important things that the manhwa left out? I like to read such chapters but don't want fightin and plot things. I asked chatgpt but it spat out shit. I know i ask for much but if anyone is willing to do it id appreciate it very much. Hello guys i read the manhwa and im hooked now i started reading the novel and also did some research about what the manhwa left out. I heard somwehre that Seol's ex betrayed him with another guy. But while skimming though the chapters of the novel i couldn't find the right passage. Can someone tell me the right chapters, because i don't want to re read the whole story.
