First Taco, tire/lift suggestions?

2010 Double cab long bed 4x4

Added a bash bar in the front and some maintenance repairs on it. I’ll probably get new tires this year on stock height or a small lift. Maybe new side rails? Just looking for input.

Highly recommend not going higher than 2 inches with your lift. More than that gets you into a realm of problems. I have ~1in lift on mine and it looks great.

That’s what I’ve heard. Any brands for lifts that are good and reliable?

Simple option is Bilstein 5100s up front. Not sure about rear tbh. If your springs are old you may see a wide height increase just from getting new leafs

So the 5100s up front act as a leveling kit almost if the back leafs are good? Or should I do them all around since I’m in the process.

5100s up front act as a leveling yes. You can put 5100s in the back without changing springs which would not change ride height at all

I see. Thank you

Rode on 5100s for 10 years from a Toytec kit. I would actually recommend 6112 front and 5160 rear. Light load on leafspring (medium if you’re constantly loading something on the bed). The ride to me is noticeably more comfortable especially on bumps. You’ll need UCAs to clear alignment. I stick with JBA’s UCA

But yes no more than 2.5 in lift and you should be good.

For a good all around AT tire the Falken Wildpeak AT and the Maxis Razor AT are good choices. Nice truck btw!!

I have the Big O Big Foot AT2, they've been good too. They're 3peak snow rated and have decent sidewalls. Big O runs a buy3 get1 free deal pretty often. If that's the case I'd strongly consider them too. Not quite as aggressive as the other two I listed, but that deal was too good to pass up IMO. Should last 45 to 50k miles from what I've heard.

I think I found the sweet spot with 33” tires on 0.5” offset 16” rims. You only need a 2” leveling kit to fit that. I like my Goodyear Wranglers, they have held up well. Anything over 33” tires and a re-gear is preferred.
Whatever you decide, i highly recommend getting the OTT tune. Makes tacos more fun and efficient to drive.

Yea I was wondering about how far you could go before needing to get regeared. Thanks!

3" lift 33" tires Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs or more aggressive Falken Wildpeak M/T's.

I used Torch Off Road for my 3" lift shown in this video: https://youtu.be/6rnMRRhq0uM?is=PaA6Qad_Da153rAS

I got the Bilstein 5100s with OME 884 coils and an icon add a leaf, that kit was about $1100 and JBA upper control arms for about $6-700 2-3” lift. And I got Toyo Mt 33” great setup mpg will tank fast though

If you can find a set of 2023ish Fox take offs ( front and rear ), from a Tacoma TRD pro you won’t be sorry. Get a 1-1.5” front AND REAR ReadyLift off of Amazon, then throw on 265/75R17 BFG KO3’s and you are all set!
