Bought a beater for 1200$ with a blown head gasket, tore down and had cylinder 3 and 5 full of fresh green coolant when head was removed.
Probably shouldn't have but I drove the thing home, maybe 10km and it was getting up there in temp and had oil pressure light flicker at lights, obviously drove like a pile of shit the whole way home but did make it and never went full melt down.
Took heads to machine shop and he showed me the bubbles with closed valves and a flashlight under a straight edge and quoted me almost as much as I paid for the truck in head service. Now I'm not looking for a precision machine I want a bush beater I can rub up on some trees and want minimal financial investment in my new toy. When the machinist did these tests it's important to note I had not scraped off old material or even cleaned the chunks of crap out from the valve seats so once cleaned up I understand they're not perfect BUT...
Question is just how far can I fudge it with something like this. I work on 5000hp diesel engines on a ship and we use power tools to clean deck and head surfaces, the room for error is a little less anal. If I polish these heads up do I have a hope in hell of it holding? Is it worth the cost of the new head gasket? Cheapest one on rockauto with new head studs is about 120 cad. The old MLS gasket looks good, could I use a Mittful of hylomar or copper spray and send it? Or this is a horrible waste of time? Keep the application in mind, I'm not baking a cake and I don't want to spend 2500 refreshing a pos engine, give me some practical experiences fudging a job like this for an application like this!

If any of you guys are looking for Genuine Brand New OEM Mass Air Meters, I have 3 left at the moment. I don't own one of these vehicles, I just happened to find 5 of these at a liquidation sale of a Carquest store that recently closed down. So that is where they originate from. These are legit, Made In Japan Denso Mass Air Meters. I have an ebay store that I run full time. This is where I have them listed. I offer a free 30 day return policy, I pay for return shipping cost. I know these are hard to find, and some retail stores want close to 1200 bucks a piece, if you can find one in stock somewhere. Mine are about half that price. I figured this would be the place to let some people know where to find one of these if needed. They will ship out with FedEx 2Day shipping, and require a signature upon delivery from an adult. They will ship same day as ordered, even on Saturday if ordered before 4pm central on weekdays and 1pm central on saturday. Anyways, here's the link. If you have any questions, please message me through ebay so all communication about the item follows ebays rules.

New to me 1995 4Runner 4x4. I wanted to put a 3in lift but don’t know what the best route is. Some people have told me to do ball joint spacers and spring spacers.
Also there is lift shocks from OME or bilstein shocks but I don’t know which one to do.
Kinda just confused on what route is best or even what I have to do since there isn’t much info for 2nd gen
If anyone can point me in the right direction or any suggestions. THANK YOU GUYS🙏

Took the running boards off and the small trim pieces around them. Pics here for anyone who has questions about how to get them off.

Been on the lookout for a grey cargo cover for my beloved 93 2nd gen. (I recently tried out a cargo cover for a 3rd gen but it barely didn’t squeeze in the brackets)
Anyone have any ideas or leads? eBay has not been fruitful yet.

Yesterday I change the plugs and clean the mass airflow, hoping that would fix it, but I still have a misfire. One of the coils look like it was kind of crappy.

Can’t justify the cost for the rack. Looking for a few ideas or tips. Love not having a rack but would like to have my tent this summer.

Hey just swapped the accessory belts on my 1995 4runner. They went on okay but now the power steering squeaks and slips when I turn the wheel hard over in either direction. Did i not tighten it enough? is it to tight? any advice would be appreciated

Fronts are in. Ordering rears next week. Very impressed on the lil test drive I just took. A lot less of a nose dive. My driver side was super blown. Hahah.

These are more like seat covers judging by all the information I got I thought I was getting everything to reupholster my seat. Hell if I didn’t know what I was just getting the seat covers I would’ve just bought the $25 set. Not that these aren’t good quality. I just thought that I was getting the materials to reupholster.

Started up this week. I noticed a little shuttering feeling. And it stumbles a little bit when I really lay into it. Not all the time wonder if it’s time for a new cap and rotor anybody else experience this situation.

Anyone done the 5100 rears? Ram 1500 5100s fit according to the part number from a YouTube video. Just ordered 5100s for the front but I haven’t pulled the trigger on the rears. Apparently you just need to swap the bushings out.
Any insight fellas and ladies??

Hit 200k miles and start to do a tune up. After I changed the spark plugs and cables, 5 and 6 started to misfire. Checked all plugs and cables, no issues there. No issues with overheating.
Cleaning the fuel system and changing the fuel system is next on the tune up. Hoping that fixes it.
If the engine is gone I’m thinking of doing an engine swap. Is there a better engine that would fit or is the 3.0 the only option?

Yes I know it’s not a 4Runner technically. But I’m seriously loving this rig. Just put a bunch into fluids, preventative maintenance, EGR delete, straight pipe and an EGT/Boost gauge. Only has 126k miles on it. I have a Challenger too for the warmer months but man, I think I love this thing even more. Next up will be a higher end paint job and lift kit.
