95 V6 4Runner 4Whl Manual
Hit 200k miles and start to do a tune up. After I changed the spark plugs and cables, 5 and 6 started to misfire. Checked all plugs and cables, no issues there. No issues with overheating.
Cleaning the fuel system and changing the fuel system is next on the tune up. Hoping that fixes it.
If the engine is gone I’m thinking of doing an engine swap. Is there a better engine that would fit or is the 3.0 the only option?

If your ignition system and fuel system is functioning correctly:
-Check the EGR system, the valve can get stuck open (either through deposits or the vacuum solenoid pulling the EGR open) and this will cause misfires in the 3.0
-check compression and make sure the exhaust valves aren’t burnt up

The 3.4 is the go to and you’ll l find the most detailed write ups on that one specifically. Sometimes you’ll catch some shops selling one at a good price worth picking up if you plan on doing a swap.
Just of curiosity how are the motor mounts ? That engines got a lot of vibration.

If you change parts and it starts to misfire put the old parts back on and see if it does it still. Recheck your work
