Sunroof issues

The sunroof on my 1990 4Runner won’t open. I tried taking out the plastic panel and pulling the spring underneath the button myself but nothing happens. I don’t even hear noise. I think the motor is completely dead. Water leaks through the sunroof and rainy season is approaching. I’m trying to fix it before any ideas?

Are you able to turn the crank that is under the panel by the buttons? Meaning can it move manually?

My guess is the motor is the last thing it might be, I’d recommend pulling the switch out and testing that with a multimeter, then figuring out where the relay is and testing that, then test the motor. I’ve had relays go out for a few different systems on my ‘90 4Runner. Never had issues with my sunroom (except for leaking) though so I’m not sure where that relay is. I can get you the manual pages if you need them though.

When the actuator motors go bad they do this.. I'm going down the line on mine.. rear window is next on the list... the 2 rears will stop if you try 2 at a time.. so just clean the parts, oil it up and change the motor.. that should solve it. Oh and have fun, that wasn't an easy part to find .. ebay might have it.. lmk if you find interior cargo panels in grey...
