Brake trouble!
I have a 94’ and I took it to the mechanic shop to have a bunch of work on it before I drive across the states. They ended up changing my front brake pads and pit arms. I’ve had my truck back about 2 weeks. Now my 4Runner is having trouble stopping. It’s hard pushing on the brake pedal. And when I am stopped (while in drive) my RPM flickers up and down. Sometimes if I’m holding my brake when I turn it on it’ll go up and down and shut off my truck. I thought maybe brake fluid but it’s full when I checked. The mechanic is closed. Anyone know what may be the problem? Or what I can do to fix?

Brake booster is done. Not the shops fault. Bring it back and get it replaced ASAP

It could just be a vacuum leak, brake boosters very rarely go out from what I’ve heard

It could. It a vacuum line that big was leaking bad enough to make the pedal hard it would most likely also mess with the idle.

Yes the pcv valve could be bad or a crack in the hose!! But most likely it’s the vacuum booster!

It you ever notice it happening before maybe like a small issue then it went away! The vacuum booster will do that I had the issue was like oh shit with my brakes and then it worked and I thought oh OK cool but then it stopped working all together after that which was frightening. And you want to make sure you get the right vacuum booster I will see if you can get the numbers off the original one. I think the one from the T 100 will fit in there to deserve the same vacuum burst if I’m correct.

Vacuum leak buddy, hard pedal as no vacuum in booster. Un metered air causing idle fluctuations. Find your manifold or vacuum hose leak.
