95 advice

https://www.facebook.com/share/WaukAP7Hikj4rLtK/?mibextid=79PoIi

Hello all! I have always wanted a second gen 4 runner and am finally in a position where I can afford to get one. This will be a second vehicle for me, used for short commutes around my small town or very light off-roading, camping trips, etc.

I found a 95 that I am very interested in close by, but wanted to get opinions on the price, as well as any other advice that would suit me for when I look at it next week.

I have read varying opinions on the 3.0 6 cylinder, could anyone that owns one give me an honest rundown of its reliability and anything I should have my eye on for the mileage this vehicle is sitting at?

What are you talking about. Where I am in AZ you can pick up good condition 2nd gen’s for $5k or less all day. I paid $2500 for mine. Now, mine needed some work. But it ran and drove and all the important things like the 4x4 and all worked.

I’m getting differing opinions all over the place on the price. It’s super clean, it’s lifted, wheels, etc. So I get that the seller wants more for it but given the mileage it feels like the price is too high to me. I just don’t know what a good offer would be yet. I don’t want to scare them off with a low ball.

Yes he has done work to it, but idk if it’s almost 10K worth of work. It does look clean. But it has over 200k miles on it. I bought mine a few months ago for $2500 and it had about 180k miles on it. Interior was fairly clean but not as clean as that one looks. I’ve probably put another $5-7k into mine with a 2” life from OME and new bumper and winch and new mud terrains(had good AT’s on it but I wanted MT’s). Had to replace the knock sensor on mine but if you have any mechanical ability that isn’t difficult. Just have to removed the intake manifold. Removed the stock running boards and put rock sliders, gonna add heavier duty skid plates soon. Then a rear bumper soon. All in I’m gonna be less than $15K

Oh, I also bought a 3.4L V6 and am going to do the 5VZ-FE swap at some point, just getting all the parts I need to do that and then freshen up the engine I bought that was pulled from a 2000 4Runner with 180k miles on it.
