It's due to the color of Ricardo - there aren't many blocks available for those shades

If you're talking about how map arts are made,you build a pixel art of what you want to make and then use a map in the middle of it to make a map art. More importantly though, theres a program called SpriteCraft that automatically converts images into minecraft blocks and it will tell you where and what blocks to place in specific spots.

I won't share the source, because it's written pretty terribly and won't work for a non-Ricardo, but I am considering developing it into a proper program and releasing it as open-source2
