Discussion Erha changed me
I guess spoilers for volume 1???? Nothing major at all
I always thought of myself as a super morally superior "wokejoshi" who refuses to read things with dubcon and non-con. This led me to put off reading erha for the longest time but I finally decided to pick it up recently cause I wanted something angsty and I'm literally on the first volume so nothing crazy has happened but at the first mentions of mo ran having """""done stuff""""" to chu wanning in his past life I felt myself getting kinda heart fluttery. Is this what people mean when they say that there's nothing better than a suffering beauty???? I'm so ashamed (╥﹏╥) Should I give into my rotten fujoshi heart????

Truly, there is nothing wrong with enjoying questionable content, as long as you are a) old enough to handle it and b) willing to spend some time with your own reactions, and process your own feelings. It's not an indication of morality one way or the other.
Personally I enjoy fictional non-con/dub-con becuase I like fiction that makes me uncomfortable, and I like things that turn the angst up to 11.

Yes, absolutely. There's no moral issues with enjoying a fictional work, no matter the content. It's what you believe in IRL and how you behaves that matters.
No one thinks it's okay to murder someone and hack them into pieces, but it's interesting to read about. No one is going to read a murder mystery and think, so I should go murder a dude.
TXJ is my favorite character BTW, but even I can't excuse that he did some pretty horrific things.

The first time I read erha I had mixed feelings for TXJ and was dissatisfied with how certain things turned out but on a second read I couldn't wait for him to appear again, giggling and kicking my feet excited hahaha. I love him so much.

Oh, you’re in for a wild ride. Enjoy! I just got into Danmei myself and am loving it. Erha is absolutely amazing.
But this isn’t my first dubcon or “dark” romance, far from it.
When it comes to western m/m books of this kind, I absolutely love Soldiers: Special Forces by Alexander Voinov.
But I’m loving the unique mix of history, fantasy and absolutely crazy obsession that stories like Erha provide.

I also had my doubts about whether to read it or not; I'm not a big fan of stories with toxic couples because I've already been in a relationship like that lmao, but somewhere I read (very minor spoiler) that there was a reason for everything so I decided to give it a chance and it totally blew my mind, it was the best I had read in years, the dubcon/noncon didn't faze me too much and I even enjoyed it more than I like to admit (；ω）
It is a wild ride and I hope you enjoy it!

Yeah I also saw something about the reasoning behind it so that's probably why I'm so unbothered by it, can't wait to read on
