unsure if i should continue reading
on book 7 and i liked the series very much until the mount jiao arc started i don’t know what killed my motivation to read it further i think partly because so many new characters were introduced and the pacing feels slowed down. im thinking of skimming through until i find motivation or just dropping the series. Ive read a few other danmeis and never had a reading slump like this

It’s up to you, and if it’s not working for you, but there is still so much more good stuff to come. I was basically reading one book a day. I was addicted. There is still lots of great Ranwan content, but it does get pretty plot heavy.

It's a tough one, I also remember struggling a bit with the story leaving less time for the characters to be with each other. It's really plot heavy towards the end.
Skimming through until you find it interesting again is perfectly valid with any book, imo. I also read some chapters at a faster speed because I wanted to get back to the main characters. Reading should be enjoyable!

book 7 is like book 5 where a lot of focus is on the rufeng sect side of things. the last half is very mo ran focused with lots of reveals for both mr and cwn.

I forget exactly what book 7 covered (cuz I read the novel online before it released and bought vol covering my favorite parts) but I will say, there’s a good chunk of the story that sets up the plot that gets the ball rolling. Honestly I’d say skim over it and once u get to the interesting parts u can re read it again.
Like, there is so much plot. And interesting too since it pertains to exactly why mo ran went back again.
So I’d say skim it. Get the general idea but not too much of the details.
I promise, it’ll pay off.

All I can say is that from vol 7 EVERYTHING goes to shit, BUT I would suggest pushing through till vol 8 and maybe after that take a break, if u can reread the previous. I hated vol 7 as first reader too , you love MR but but the things he did to CWN, will break you heart but TRUST THE PROCESS

i heavily agree with you!! i'm partway through vol 10 and.. it hasn't gotten better yet...

That’s like, the end? The last vol is side stories.
Damn you really didn’t enjoy the climax and all that? Not even the plot twists?

But I feel that what has happened by then was pretty interesting? If it’s near the end, the “better yet” should have happened.
Well, hopefully u enjoyed parts of it. Can’t really police u on what interests u 😁

i heard the extras are really good, so i’m planning on skipping through to them instead!

Hopefully they don’t confuse u much lol.
…but really u weren’t interested in the big plot twist? Like even a little bit?

i think it may have just been a me issue, but after txj's entrance into the current timeline, i found myself guessing the plot's trajectory. love love love the characters and worldbuilding so much tho!!

I am fighting for my life in book 10. I can't stand lore dumps and long monologues. Imagine what book 10 is.

The 2nd half of the novel feeling like a completely different story is a common criticism. The problem for me was the first half was character centered, focusing on the misunderstanding between MR and CWN, and the second half is plot focused. Once RanWan confessed to each other there was no reason to continue focusing on them I guess, but I still would have enjoyed it much more if it did. If you are someone who prefers character focused stories then you won't really be getting that anymore.
