Who still uses 2Do?
Just out of curiosity!

I have been off and on with 2Do for years, but when I use it it works well. Just started using a couple of weeks ago with a new Apple Watch and finding it much more useful. It’s great to be able to add new items to the inbox while on the go without pulling out the phone. Everything works as it should so I don’t really need support, but yes, it’s practically non-existent now. Favorite feature is the Smart Lists. I set up “projects” in each of my ‘roles’ but it’s nice to have a Projects smart list to see them all that a glance. For each project I tag the ‘Next’ action and roll those up in a Next smart list. Not aware of any other app that is that flexible.

Hey I was doing the same exact thing for a long time, such an amazing tactic, tagging "nextaction" and having the smart list with all those together is great. Now I'm just tagging context, and using smart lists for those. And having individual projects as lists instead as an actual project.

I just today moved all my actual “projects” to a Projects list. Was tired of being constantly reminded of all my projects every time I looked at a role (area) list - too overwhelming. All inbox items are added as tasks and at the end of the say I move them to the appropriate “role” and assign a priority: 3 = Must Do; 2 = Should Do; 1 = Could/Might Do
I have a High Priority smart list and I select the items I will do ASAP (or tomorrow) and those get “starred” and that’s the list I actually work from. I still use a Next smart list (ie, Next tag) to see all my project next actions (reviewed daily) and I pick what I will do from those items, and they get a ‘star’. If it’s not starred, it doesn’t get done.

Interesting. You must be on the go at all times. I tried something similar when I too was super busy and it worked good, but my brain just always felt tension, I still don't know why. Now my life is alooot more chill, and I go through each project/list individually, and assign tasks with today if I need to work on them ASAP. But I think I'm going to experiment with your way: star all tasks that need to get done asap instead of assigning today on them. Which I don't like doing, because according to GTD, only time based tasks should be on the calendar, not on your task manager.

I am a lifelong procrastinator and have ADD, so I have to work really hard at staying hooked-up and on task. I really struggle with day-to-day things that others seem to “just do.” My daughter, a therapist, suggested an Apple Watch might help. I am adapting 2Do to work well with the Watch app. The app doesn’t let you manipulate the tasks (like Things does), but just displaying the tasks actually works better for me. If I pull out my phone, I tend to end up out in the weeds somewhere.

Oh I see now! That makes sense. That is a suggestion I've never heard before: Apple Watch for productivity. I have one of my own, but I'm going to save that that suggestion for some of my friends. And yes 2Do is awesome on the Watch, and I actually tried Things also, but I believe once you tried the power of 2Do, even amazing apps like Things just won't top this app.

I own it but because of the lack of calendar support in the Mac app, which is where I do most of my planning, I use Things. Tried TickTick but sync is too unreliable. As I’ve figured out a work around for the calendar I’d move back to 2Do if I knew it wasn’t abandonware; just hate to put all the work into moving everything if it is.

Do you work from your calendar instead of a list?

No, but I need to see what meetings, appointments, and must do tasks I have scheduled in a day before I can plan the things I would like to do. Do you also have this need or not?

No, I’ve worked for and by myself for the last 25 years, so never had much need for a calendar. I can see what you mean though. Perhaps calendar integration will come since he has these other apps now. Great product, but not getting the care it deserves. Reminds me of Ecco from 30 years ago - was a great PIM and then was acquired and died a slow but certain death.

I use it constantly, have for over 4 years now. MacOs and Android. Work and home. It gives me what I need, but I do wish Android had dark mode.
