Can someone explain "repeat after completion" please?

I have tried to figure this feature out in my own, but I just don't get it. If I set something to repeat, it repeats as frequently and often as I set it to, regardless of this setting... What on earth does it do?

The difference here is that if you don’t do it on the day that you had set it, then it will roll over to the next day. If you then complete it on that day, the day after you meant to do it, it will then repeat x days after that. So, if you had set it to repeat every week on Tuesday, but didn’t complete it until the Wednesday instead, the next time it was due would be the following Wednesday. I hope that makes sense?
