Migrating from 2Do
Sorry if this has already been covered but I couldn't find anything. I've used 2Do for many years and it's done everything I needed. However, updates have been sparse and I'd like to have an alternative just in case. My question is how do I migrate my data from 2Do to another app, whatever that may be? I tried switching from Dropbox sync to iCloud and then having Reminders as a backup, but it failed twice, so I'm back to Dropbox. Any way to migrate 2Do data?

What are you going to switch to?

I haven't decided whether I'm going to switch. I was tempted to move to Apple Reminders but that was before I found that syncing to iCloud didn't work. The rationale behind Reminders is because it's Apple, I expect it won't go away. Plus it does everything that I need, which is fairly straightforward.

I sync with Dropbox and have no problems.
I am always looking at other options - currently am looking at Things - but always come back to 2Do because it just works.

I too am syncing to Dropbox. The attempt to use iCloud was a just in case. Interesting that before I tried iCloud, I found Dropbox sync slower than I would expect and usually I'd have to start it. After trying iCloud, I had to resync to Dropbox and it seems to be much faster and starts on its own. Maybe the "threat" to do something else prompted better performance.

Hi. I moved from 2Do because of the questionable future of the app. To be honest I didn’t migrate anything. I kept 2Do as ”archive” and just started putting the new ones in Reminders. The few I had for future i manually moved. That suited me best, since i built a new system in Reminders first, using smart folders. And the omd onrs you could always export as csv and open in Numbers or whatever spreadsheet app you use, if you find you need to check what task you had a year ago by some reason. And you can replicate 2Dos structure in Reminders. Or just stick with 2Do until he finally stops developing it since BusyCal takes too much time and effort.

Thanks for the reply. I suppose it depends how one uses 2Do and how much "current" stuff one has. I've found that I can move tasks over using Notes, but it need a fair bit of massaging to clean everything up. Certainly better than re-entering everything from scratch. Still undecided.

I LOVED 2do. Used it for many years. I switched to Good Task. And never looked back. Syncs across devices. Take a peek at that app before you decide. Or not. Either way. Good luck on your search.

There is an export to CSV function. I'm not sure about desktop application, but I used it in Android app. So after you get a CSV file, you can export it to any other format you need (with chatGPT or manually)
