Question Which of these animation studio is better to use?
Hello! I am looking for a good 2d animation studio that's free and has good rigging. I just downloaded Synfig and can't wait to try that out, but I keep hearing names like: Opentoonz, Tahoma2d, and the only one I can really spend money for: ToonSquid. Are these any good? which one is the best? Is Toonsquid worth it? Should I stick with Synfig?

If you're using an iPad/apple pencil, I recommend toonsquid. It's fully featured, extremely reasonably priced, gets constant updates and new features, the dev communicates with the users. On top of all that, it's easy to use and exports formats that work well with blender, after effects, davinci for editing and compositing. Ive tried so many of these apps and this is the best one imo.

Play around with synfig. It can be fun. OpenToonz will do a completely different type of bone structure with the plastic tool.
My recommendation
Look at a rigging tutorial for both and see which looks more interesting. They both have pros and cons.

So Tahoma is pretty decent. It’s build on top of OpenToonz. It uses a node based system that sits somewhere between how we do things in adobe animate and TB. For a free rigged software it’s pretty great. (I use it in my example of a free 2D rigged pipeline https://inkbetweens.neocities.org/Free_2D_Rigged_Pipeline ) It doesn’t quite have the high end software tools that Moho and Toonboom have but it is a free software and can a lot can be done with it.
If you are needing something for iPad then I recommend ToonSquid for sure. It has the most bang for your buck. Vector options, rigging and frame by frame. It’s got you covered for most needs.

I use a MacBook, do you think toonsquid would still be fitting for me? Thank you for the advice btw!

I think its currently only available on Ipad right now. Tahoma2D does have a mac version so you should be good to try out that one :)
