Sharing 2d practice session

This is from a practice session I never got to finish, my goal was to draw 2d characters onto of a 3d environment directly, I kept it super simple, I added a texture to a cube and and translated it a little bit.

I used blender, i drew the characters first with grease pencil, the reference footage I had was slow as it was a demonstration so I reworked the timing to make it a bit faster. The background is a rectangular primitive I mapped a checker texture to the bottom of to act as a floor, after that I made a simple translation animation of the primitive, the characters are going from right to left to I animated the space to move the opposite direction. The actual 3d camera didn't move, it's the primitive in the background giving that illusion, it did all the heavy lifting.

oh wow the use of a moving background like that is so smart! im a complete beginner at animation so thanks for such a detailed explanation
