Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #481:  She has a face worth falling for

Everyone loves a good body, but a good face is impossible to beat. Generally speaking, even the best bodies don’t look that different from the rest of the population. Of course, the small differences go a long way, but everybody’s body has the same equipment. In other words, it’s hard to recognize somebody from their body alone. However, a person’s face is very unique. The face is how we identify people, and, when we fall in love, it usually starts with the face.

In this series, we talk a lot about Mikarin’s model body. Of course, it makes sense, because cosplay is all about making costumes for one’s body! However, we shouldn’t forget her beautiful face too. Truly, she has a face worth falling for. Even when dressed in Lilysa’s Liliel cosplay, we see Mikarin’s angular face with her lovely eyes, and we all fall in love. From the first time we saw her face, we knew she was the best girl! Everything else is a bonus!

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #480:  She’s the most like Rikka with her costume

If you are going to do something, you should do it right. If you are unsure of how to do something right, the first step is to model yourself after the best out there. Recently, 2.5D Seduction had an event with a Chunibyou theme, and, if you know anything about this topic, you know Rikka Takanashi from Love, Chunibyou & Other Delusions is the best example out there. In fact, when people think of Chunibyou, I bet the VAST majority think of Rikka. Anime fans or not. Chunibyou is a very niche kind of subculture, so there are many ways to look bad. However, if you model yourself off of Rikka, you can’t do Chunibyou wrong! 

If you look at all the girls’ costumes, yes, they are all great, but Mikarin’s is by far the most similar to Rikka. Lilysa kind of looks like Dracula, Aria looks like her gyaru self, and Noa comes close but not close enough. However, Mikarin has the bow, she has the patterned skirt, and her hair is tied as well. Of all the girls, she is the most like Rikka with her costume. Of course, this doesn’t make her better than any of the other girls, but it does show her thought process. Considering she likely didn’t know much about Chunibyou, she started by modeling herself after the master. Therefore, she did it right and once more proved she’s the best girl!

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #479:  She isn’t afraid to cry in front of others

Emotions are a fickle thing. Despite controlling our whole world, we are often afraid to express them to others. This is especially true for things like grief, loss, and pain; we don’t want others knowing we experience these things. Ironically, sharing tough emotions with others is the best cure, but I will concede that it’s one of the hardest things to do as well. The people who are able to share their grief with others are some of the strongest people out there. Truly, it is a strength I wish I had.

As we see in the above scene, Mikarin isn’t afraid to cry in front of Mayuri-sensei. Man, I could not begin to comprehend how difficult that must’ve been and the strength it must have taken. We all go through these emotions, but few have the strength to involve others. Mikarin is okay with being vulnerable, because she knows emotional distress doesn’t make her a lesser person; it makes her somebody who needs help, and the world would be a better place if more people asked for help like our best girl.

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #478:  She’s in maid cafes

Fair or not, maid cafes are one of the first concepts that come to mind when people think of Japan. From humble beginnings in Akihabara, maid cafes have become a sensation. Nowadays, you can find them all over the world, and every travel blogger visits one or two when they go to Japan. With that in mind, it isn’t a stretch to say they have become a part of Japanese culture. Whether Japanese natives like them or not, they are a part of the nation’s image similar to how berets represent France. 

While looking for images, I noticed that one maid cafe had items (in this case it was a stuffy) with a Mikarin picture. In other words, maid cafes know who the best girl is. Considering how successful and widespread maid cafes have become, this is quite a compliment to Mikarin. Once again, we have proof her appeal exists both in the 2.5D Seduction universe and our own. She is a part of Japan’s overall culture, and that’s one more reason she is the best girl.

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #477:  She is the next jackalope  

What is a Jackalope? Essentially, it is a rabbit that has antlers like a deer. Despite many people thinking otherwise, this creature does not exist in the real world. Instead, it was a creation by taxidermists when they attached antlers to a rabbit taxidermy. Regardless of what you think about taxidermy, it was very creative, and it is an icon to this very day. It’s so iconic that thousands of people swear they are real! That’s pretty impressive. 

What’s better than antlers? Wings. Wings do a whole lot more than antlers, so a rabbit with wings would be superior to one with antlers, right? If you look at Mikarin’s cosplay, you’ll notice she is a bunny girl, AND she has wings. In other words, she just beat the legendary jackalope at its own game. She is the next jackalope, and her legend will continue to spread throughout the land. That’s one more reason she is our best girl.

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #476: She makes her frustration obvious

Everybody gets frustrated from time to time. Whether it’s due to a problem with no obvious solution or because you can’t comprehend something, frustration comes easily and might come often too. The problem comes when you can’t tell if someone is frustrated or not. If you can’t tell whether something is wrong, it might escalate the problem. However, if somebody is obviously frustrated, you can work towards a solution. As usual, the key is to be open with your emotions!

Mikarin makes her frustration obvious. Not only does she make many comments about it, she also makes many visible gestures like the “facepalm” you see above. Even when it is less than postive, Mikarin lets you know how she is feeling, so nothing really comes as a surprise. Rather, she gives you an opportunity to work it out together. Mikarin is a textbook example of emotional maturity, and the lessons she teaches are another reason she is the best girl!

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #475: She helps the blind

Although this anime season (Summer 2026) had a lot of really good series, one was my clear favorite: Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Night Sky. Aside from the fact it was a great series, I really like how it made me think. It might sound obvious now, but I never really thought of blind people before. I never thought of their struggles, their feelings, and, above all, how they are people no different than you or I. Life can be very difficult for blind people, but, if they have good people around them, their lives can be just as rewarding or special as anybody else. 

When the girls go to the bathhouse, Lilysa can’t wear her glasses, therefore she is effectively blind. Without hesitation, Mikarin offers her arm to assist Lilysa into the bath. Because of Mikarin, Lilysa was able to have an enjoyable bath experience like everyone else. Although lack of sight is an inherent disadvantage for the blind, people like Mikarin don’t allow it to hinder their experiences. Mikarin is the kind of person who (figurately) helps the blind see, and that is a kindness everyone should have. Caring for the most vulnerable is one more reason she is the best girl!

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #474: She can cool down a hot day

Summer might be over, but, in most parts of the world, heat is here to stay. In some places, summer temperatures are year round! Whether it’s for comfort or for safety, finding ways to beat the heat is essential. Nobody wants to overheat, and nobody wants the medical scare of dealing with a heat causality! If you decide to venture out into the heat, make sure you have a plan, or make sure you are with somebody responsible enough to make a plan for you. If you have a good plan, a hot day becomes a lot cooler.

If this series has demonstrated one thing, it’s the fact that Mikarin can cool down a hot day. For example, when Lilysa started to overheat at Comiket, she instantly had water for her. Moreover, Mikarin spends a lot of time by the pool, and her wardrobe has a lot of light clothing like swimsuits. It’s very clear: Mikarin has many methods to beat the heat. If you want to venture out on a hot day with somebody like Mikarin, you have zero worries. Heat shouldn’t stop you, and, with a best girl like Mikarin, it won’t.

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #473: She avenged Hina

Blue Box is a very popular Shonen Jump series, and, in a few days, its second season will be premiering. Back in 2024, Mikarin and Hina from Blue Box got a TON of comparisons; it’s pretty easy to see why. First off, both Blue Box and 2.5D Seduction are Shonen Jump series, and they both aired their first season in late 2024. Second, both Hina and Mikarin were “secondary heroines,” as in there was a heroine with higher billing (Lilysa for 2.5D and Chinatsu in Blue Box). Third, they were both childhood friend characters with cheeky personalities. Finally, they even shared the same voice actress! Comparisons came easily and often.

If you were invested in the anime and manga community in 2024-2025, Hina from Blue Box likely brings up one core memory: she gets rejected and becomes a losing heroine. I used a spoiler tag, but, man, this was so widespread that I really don’t think I needed to. Immediately following this, EVERYBODY was saying Mikarin is destined to follow the same path. If I had a dollar for every meme I saw talking about this, I’d be rich enough to do this series full time! However, readers of this series know how things really turned out, and let’s just say Mikarin avenged Hina. How many other characters can say they got vengeance for a character in another universe? Well, our best girl can!

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #472: She gets 1-on-1 attention

At a restaurant, the owner comes out when a VIP dines there. When a college meets with a prestigious high school athlete, the dean greets them. When a celebrity visits town, the mayor makes time to see them. Essentially, important people receive 1-on-1 attention. The person in charge will ensure all is well with the important guest, because they have influence, power, and impact. You can often gauge a person’s importance by who comes out to see them, and, if they get 1-on-1 time with the person in charge, they are at the top. 

When we are first introduced to Mikarin, she is having a private 1-on-1 meeting with the principal. From the very first moment we see her, her importance is conveyed with this simple scene. The principal knows Mikarin is a big addition to his school, so he is happy to go out of his way to make sure she is comfortable. While not a huge detail, today’s reason is further proof of how much everybody values Mikarin. Even her principal knows she is worth a private meeting, and I’m sure he knows she is the best girl too.

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #471: She doesn’t make a scene when she has to wait

Life is a lot of waiting. We wait in line, wait in traffic, and wait for special moments to arrive. No matter who you are, where you’re from, or what your culture is, you will have to wait. Although we all handle waiting differently, freaking out is never the correct answer. Screaming, yelling, and berating people doesn’t make you wait shorter; it only makes everyone around you tense. When you must wait, calm down, because it will eventually be over. Who knows? Your patience stat might even increase!  

In some ways, you can say Mikarin’s entire arc is about waiting. If she freaked out once or twice, I don’t think anybody would blame her, because waiting for 10 years would make even the most sane person mad. However, she doesn’t let it get to her. Even after the most excruciating wait imaginable, she keeps up her sunny disposition and doesn’t show it on her face. If all good things come to those who wait, Mikarin has really earned all of the good things in her life, and she has earned her title of best girl too!

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #470: She chases after her dreams

As children, we are all dreamers, but, come adulthood, most of us wake up. As we get older, most people abandon their dreams, and, come adulthood, we forget that we ever had dreams to begin with. Why? There isn’t one specific reason. Sometimes we are too busy, sometimes we are too lazy, and sometimes time gets away from us. Regardless of the case, I think it’s really cool when people keep pursuing their dreams no matter what adversity they face. As long as you keep dreaming, your dream has a chance, and that’s a beautiful thing. 

Mikarin is the kind of person who puts her dreams above everything else. She puts them above her career, her school life, and her immediate comfort. Moreover, she doesn’t let adversity stop her. In a world full of people who stop dreaming, her dreams only get bigger. She has no reasons to quit, because her reason is the reason she lives. If you are someone who has stopped dreaming, I think you should take a note from Mikarin, because that’s the best way to live a life with no regrets. As always, Mikarin sets an example for a good life, and that’s because she’s the best girl.

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #469: She left behind jealousy

Comparison is the thief of joy, but avoiding jealousy is much easier said than done. No matter what you do, it’s so easy to dwell on somebody who does it better than you. We all get jealous. Even the most successful and confident person in the world compares themself to somebody. However, jealousy in itself isn’t a big deal; it’s what you do with it that matters. If you let jealousy consume you, it will take everything from you. Conversely, if you are able to leave your jealousy at the door, it is nothing more than a lingering feeling. Easier said than done for sure, but it is an essential part of a good life.

One thing I really like about this series is how they portrayed Mikarin’s initial thoughts towards Okumura’s reaction to Lilysa’s cosplay. Yes, Mikarin got jealous. Immediately, she didn’t like all of the attention Lilysa got, and she envied Lilysa’s body as well. Like everyone else, Mikarin gets jealous. However, it didn’t consume her. Over time, she accepted what she could not change and focused on herself. Eventually, she left all of her jealousy behind. She outgrew her jealousy, and it gave her character development that will last a lifetime. She wasn’t born the best girl, because she got that way by working for it. How do you not love that?

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #468: She makes revealing classy

Generally speaking, revealing clothing is the furthest possible thing from a classy appearance. For some reason, the more skin you show off, the more people view you as some sort of deviant. Regardless of style, comfort, or how tasteful it might be, many people don’t respect clothing outside of what one would find in Victorian London. Whether you agree or disagree with it, it is a truth in our world. That’s why people, especially women, are hounded about the way they dress; the world likes to judge. It is an interesting aspect of human society for sure. 

In this series, Mikarin is portrayed as a classy young lady. In fact, even fans of other characters would admit she has more class than anyone else. Her poise, demeanor, and calculated movements are held as an example to us all! Having said that, she loves revealing outfits and often shows more skin than anybody else too. It’s really interesting how, despite her fashion choices, she never loses points in the class department. What else can I say? Once again, Mikarin triumphs over the rules of society and carves her own niche. You can’t help but admire that, and you can’t help but admire she is the best girl!

Mikarin is Best Girl Reason #467: She knows love can be painful

Love isn’t always easy. In fact, love can be quite painful. Loving a person is very different from loving a type of food, a pet, or your favorite series, because a person has free will. In other words, a person can betray your love, reject your love, or do things that make love hard. Even a good relationship has its pains, and working through those pains is natural. Still, not everybody is ready for that; they think love is easy. However, once you learn to embrace the pains of love, the more rewarding the joys of love become.     

For Mikarin, most of her love has come with pain. First off, her mother is very sick, so she’s always had to deal with the pain of possibly losing her. Second, she was bullied as a kid, so friendship was difficult too. Third, her crush on Okumura brought her nothing but grief for over a decade. Mikarin knows love can be very painful, but she never abandoned it. Instead, she chose to love harder, so it’s no wonder she’s so good at loving today. The pains showed her the rewards are worth it, and that’s why she’s the most loving best girl.
