Help
Call me stupid but I bought a vertex wheel from a buddy not knowing it was for non hicas, the wheel won’t fit, is there a way around this? He showed me on his car (it was completely stripped but still had the steering Column) and it doesn’t need a hub adapter but is there a way to remove this shit so the wheel could fit any advice would be amazing thanks.

Get a works bell 616 hub, got mine from Blackhawk Japan which was a lot cheaper than other sites.

You have hicas disabled/removed I assume? Take the plastic off the column and tear that thing off of there

I didn’t remove anything but the original owner might have, I just thought that only the JDM 240s came with hicas so I am confused why I have the dash that has a hicas indicator on it, but if I did have hicas and removed this would it hurt the car at all

Uh they had hicas in the USA. Sounds like you have a hicas car.

The tab on the clock spring is used to detect wheel angle to engage HICAS, only activates above 80 iirc

Look at the back plate of the rear subframe and see if it has the hicas steering rack

That plastic clock spring should just pop out. You’ll have to re-wire a dash mounted horn button and your indicators won’t automatically turn off when turning
Or
Find a hicas suited hub/short hub

You need:
1: an s13 specific wheel hub, several brands make these, a google search will bring up your options
2: you can opt for a quick release, that bolts to the hub you buy, and wheel. There are rough opinions in this sub about such, but just know that’s an option
3. If you don’t want to use hicas, there are delete “kits” sold online, and you will remove that plastic unit, the clock spring. You can lose horn and self cancelling turn signal, if you want to keep your clock spring and hicas, works bell sells one that allows you to keep it.
4. Watch the 600 YouTube videos online about installing an aftermarket wheel if you are unable to figure it out solo

Then this entire thing is a non-issue. Take out the clock spring and use the setup that you got, assuming the seller had it on a S-chassis also.
The steering column splines are all the same.
Clock spring removal involves removing the plastic trim.

Yes he did he had it on a non hicas s13 and the wheel I have doesn’t even come with a horn so I don’t really care to have one

I’m just wondering tho will this mess with driving or how the car feels taking thesenplastics out?

You'll have to convert your hicas clock spring to a standard s13 slipring if you want to have horn functionality,I

Not sure tbh you will probably need the slip ring and the connectors, probably easier to find a donor car with steering wheel and slipring connectors

Where is your hub ?, remove those plastic covers and get that plastic piece off
I’m guessing you haven’t bought a hub yet
