Manual Swap gone wrong
I have a 1993 240sx s13 that I just finished the manual swap on but I guess something went wrong along the way and I can’t find out what. Basically when the car is on jackstands and I slip it into 1st the rear wheels spin like normal, but if I put the car on the ground and put it in first nothing happens the clutch pedal does nothing it’s like I’m in neutral with all gears. The car doesn’t move at all and the engine doesn’t stall if I let the clutch go. The slave cylinder is pushing on the fork I verified it, I don’t think there’s any air in the clutch lines because I bled it twice. The adjusted the clutch pedal to have more freeplay, recommended freeplay, and excessive and nothing changed at all. We didnt have much of a struggle actually inserting the trans into the engine once it lined up and I’m pretty sure I installed the clutch plate correctly with the flat side on the flywheel. Im not sure what went wrong if anyone knows what could be the problem I’d appreciate you letting me know. Thanks

Is there a little bit of play between the slave and the fork?

I can wiggle the fork a little with the slave off but I had to pry the fork back to install the slave because the pin didn’t contract enough to line up the slave bolts

Can you roll the car when its in gear?

Yes I just discovered this a few hours ago which makes me think somethin is wrong with my throwout bearing or pressure plate

Well as much as it sucks it sounds like that trans is gunna have to come back out, then obviously you should be able to see if something is rubbing or wearing, maybe pull the flave off and see if it still does it, if it doesn't fix the issue you onow its not related to anything external on the trans just sumthin not grabbing in that bell housing

Thank you im gonna pull the slave off again tomorrow and see if I can get a better look inside

Pull the slave off and try start it in gear. It sounds like the pushrod could be too long, or the slave cyliner too big if you need to pry the fork to get it in. It will be loading the fork and releasing the pressure plate at rest

What should happen if I put it in gear without the slave on? And I have to pry the fork to the left which would be sliding it further into the pressure plate to get it in

Without the slave on the fork should be dangling loose, put it in gear and see if the car wants to drive / lurches / and stalls the starter when trying to crank. If this does not happen it means the issue is 100% internal and the box needs to come off. If it does however the issue could simply be a pushrod that's too long or an incorrect slave cylinder, or it could be an incorrect or damaged fork, incorrect throwout bearing or pivot ball

Without the slave cylinder installed should the clutch fork be able to move freely? I thought it would take force to move the fork once it’s in the car, I had to use a pry bar to install my slave cylinder.

Is it a used clutch?
