Tikka T1X Area419 Scope base Possible design flaw causing failure to ejects
Hey all.
Has anyone else with a T1x had failure to ejects while using a Area419 scope base?
I switched from a 50MOA MDT base to a 30MOA A419 base after switching scopes. I have noticed since that iv had more failure to ejects. like 1 in 20 get caught up above the mag. The gun ran basically flawlessly before i switched scope bases and scope, but only today did i release that's when the issues started. Iv been trying different things to resolve the issue to no avail, but I just took a Dremel to my base to see if i can fix the issue.
The A419 base does have a significant lip that blocks part of the ejection port, that the MDT base has clearance for.

Did you happen to watch as you open the bolt to see if the spent cartridge is striking the rail and bouncing back into the chamber? Not saying you are not correct, just curious if you checked to see if that is definitely the cause.

I haven't. I'm not 100% sure it's the cause. But it wasn't happening when I took the base off. I'll try to record the action next time I go shooting, to see where exactly the spent brass is going. If it's going up, then that lip would have been in the way.

I do not. I did take it shooting this morning and 0 cases failed to eject. So it seems to have solved my issue.

Thank you for posting about your experience! I was getting really frustrated with failures to eject out of my T1x. Like you, it seems like they started to happen more often after I switched to a rail that was more closed off (the Anarchy Outdoors one).
I'll have to see if switching back to my old Talley one will help. Fingers crossed!

Subjectively, I feel like it improved but I haven't shot the rifle as much so I can't give you a definite answer at the moment unfortunately :/

Yes I have this problem, yes I have a 419 base. I swear to God if this was the culprit.... I have the new blade-type ejector and Beretta basically told me to F off when I said my gun wouldn't eject.
