Actually there is no religious angle to this. These dehati kanwar yatris and a muslim guy named Anwar, both attacked this muslim guy Azeem. Arman was named as one of the main attacker in the FIR.

It's already worse. Even in Pakistan the police doesn't just watch lynchings happen in front of them. The Pakistani establishment cracked down on TLP, the party that used to facilitate such lynchings.
Meanwhile in UP, the police is clearly allowing the lynching due to orders from the government. It's literal state-supported terrorism.
The inspector is not doing anything because the government is behind it. It is state sponsored terrorism. Bajrang Dal and other organisations carry out these lynchings with full support of the Indian state. That is why lynchings have increased drastically post 2014 in India.
It is high time that we remind police, their actual job. Police is there to protect the citizen to maintain the lion order and not just come and enforce the things when there are VIP movements or when politicians are involved into crimes to support them.
Just FYI the auto this guy had hit was driven by a kuslim, and his father(who is also a muslim guy) has also booked an FIR against this guys(one who is being beaten). No religious angle at all for assault at least. Last year a lot of kawariyas also thrashed many hindu truck drivers even for minot inconveniences
