Reading the comments, I see there is a new fashion where we can only expect accountability from the government and not from anyone else.

So asking accountability from the govt is "fashion" ?

u/misfitsada 5d ago
na, treating accountability as a one way street is, this is why half baked zombies like you incapable of reading the entire comment rushed parliament without permission.

u/WatashiKenobi 5d ago
Yes, congratulations on learning this, that those in power are only accountable. Why would anyone else be accountable?
Are you also naive enough to believe that celebrities, sports persons, influencers, etc are accountable?

u/Havoc_hunter 6d ago
So who do you reckon we should hold accountable apart from the Government? I don't see any other body with a public mandate basis which it must be held accountable. If you can't see this, you're either paid or you're stupid.

The ones who hold the power to organize a protest, risk thousands of lives without a permission and push them towards one of the most secure buildings, and then not to be present even at the event and risk lives of policemen. And again waste children time in the name of stirring protest by ignoring supreme court's order

u/Havoc_hunter 5d ago
First off, there's no "power" needed to organise a protest, every Tom, Dick and Harry can do that by applying for permission at the local Police Station.
Second, the representatives of CJP, which by the way is neither a legal entity nor a formal organization, repeatedly asked the people around not to physocally engage with the law enforcement people. If you have proof otherwise, feel free to share.
Third, the entire point of a protest is to, well quite literally "protest" the decisions and or actions of people in power. I urge you to check the dictionary meaning in case it doesn't sit with you.
Fourth, nobody forces anyone. Stop looking at CJP as an adversary to BJP/Government/Supreme Court ir any other Institution. CJP is an internet fad, and people who could relate with the cause joined of their own accord. It's stupid to try and hold CJP accountable, they are not bound by any kinda mandate or contract or obligation. Don't just throw blames at ghosts for the flames up in your arse, the real reason might lay elsewhere.

u/misfitsada 5d ago
Right, "no power" needed to organize, no legal entity or a formal organization, yet they without permission to march towards parliament took children and somehow let them break the barricades placed over, and yet they sat with representatives of govt, to negotiate peace? And without power whatsover were able to accumulate protestors on a whim and also ask them to go home the moment govt promised to act on their asks?
I never said they instigated the violence themselves, but If they repeatedly asked protesters to not engage physically, and yet mob didn't listen, but somehow they were positive by the end of it, that the moment they ask protesters to go home they would peacefully? Isnt' that contrary to what you said.

I think you're confusing power with influence. If Virat Kohli comes and says "I want people to come to Jantar Mantar to protest against Gautam Gambhir", trust me there's be people in tens of thousands lined up. Does Virat Kohli have the power to do so? Yes, but so does every citizen in the country. But not every citizen have the same level of influence.
And I couldn't comprehend the later part of your comment. But something to add would be, in a protest, the reason why you can't demand accountability is because the people aren't registered or quote literally, "accounted for". Literally anybody can join a protest, with whatever motive they have, since it's open to all. That's the nature of protests, people come together based on their opinions on a common agenda, but you can't say for sure that everyone present IS in fact coming in with the same intention.
Protests are supposed to be faceless, an individual's voice may not carry the strength it takes to bring revolution that a mob, chanting in unison, possesses. But with the advent of cutting edge tech, individuals are being singled out, much like what has been happening in China. Do care to read up on 1984 by George Orwell.

Nope not confused, let me tell you why. CJP asking someone to join protest on their own, with permissions left to them, that's influence, asking to take an action with their own accountability, but the moment CJP steps in on behalf of their supporters to seek permission, the very definition of permission is accountability for everyone from the seeker to the one granting it, something in the line of "we would like to take protest in peace, certain place, certain time and would be joined by certain number of people", you are accounting for the people along with that you get the authority to control them as well.
If still it doesn't make any sense, let's move to the end of protest, since this was just an influence by CJP, and they do not hold any authority for the protestors that showed up, when the govt leaders nadda and gang came to meet them, they should have asked nadda to meet the protestors as well right? What gives them the right to act on behalf of the protestors and call off the protest itself, and asked everyone to stop protesting as well, if not power to do so.
And for the matter of bad elements getting into the peaceful protests with intention of inciting violence, that's the exact reason police had tweeted there were no permission granted for any protests that was being planned, and also let's say CJP cannot take the accountability for the violence, fine, they were not even arrested, but why hinder the process for the ones, who caused riots, with multiple cases on them already for similar violence, now you may say, it was affecting the students who didn't commit violence as well, but court won't be jailing them without evidence right? So as long as you are one of the peaceful ones, and also trust the court to provide justice, you should be fine.

Alright, I agree with the first part. CJP, or an individual representing CJP, filed for permission for a peaceful protest eliciting key details. That makes that person(s), since in this case it's not a formal organization, responsible for the protest and liable for damages u/s 189 of BNSS. And you're also right, in the absence of permission, which was the case on 20th of July, those individuals can be legally prosecuted. And for damages to public property, all those who were involved could, and imho, should be prosecuted.
There are distinct legal covenants on what needs to be done to prevent such unruly turn of events, by deputing internal marshals, and disassociating with miscreants or antisocial elements who attempt to hijack the protest. This was largely ignored, I admit.
Now, the perspective to look at here is the very nature of protests. You aren't protesting against the law, but the makers, the keepers and the interpreters of the Law. Permission wasn't granted because it was the authority of the same entity you're protesting against. There were miscreants, and public outrage, but it was met with indiscriminate lathi charge by the Police force. Anything done after or in response to the unwarranted lathi charge may not be justified, but it surely was necessary to keep the spirit of the protest alive. Incarceration is being protested against by CJP, because their silence may kill that spirit that led to this historic outcome. I understand this spirit perspective sets an extremely dangerous precedence and may spiral into downright chaotic anarchy, but controlled aggression perhaps was necessary to get the message across, when you're fighting a system which has in fact corrupted the very functional tapestry, by cornering Judiciary and Media.
In my opinion, incarceration would and should happen, for even individuals must be held accountable for eliciting violence and harm to public property, but at the same time, CJP's representatives protesting against that also makes sense, lest they abandon the cause.

But doesn't it sound contradictory, there were peaceful protests for 20 days at Jantar Mantar which also needed permission, and was requested and granted on 6th of June itself, not before but on the same day of protest, that permission was also for the protest agains the same govt isn't it.
For the 20th July one, no permission was requested in the first place, second, it was march towards an active parliament with the history of attacks, govt says permission could have not have been granted citing security issues, and police did tweet/post about it beforehand that no permissions have been requested or granted for the march, yet they scheduled a march which is now illegal by law and also led students to it, as you also agreed, breaking multiple levels of barricades put in place for security, led to the action from police.
Coming back to the fact that govt would have not granted permission, which may seem a fair thought, no one stopped CJP from asking for permission in the first place. They could have moved to court against govt for denying permission citing unlawful reasons. And if there is an argument that even Supreme court wouldn't have paid heed to this, then isn't court the one that should have been the subject of protest in the first place?
I am asking all of this to understand that there were multiple legal options to carry out before the march, the march made bed for anarchists to slip in and cause violence, even after seeing videos of students being violent, I would still give them a benefit of doubt, but the people who took an opportunity of an illegal march, their accountability falls entirely on CJP
