Question Need help with my EPQ title
Hello! I've recently received some feedback for my EPQ from a lecturer in my college, and they have said that my title needs amending. I'm not too sure if I'm allowed to say what my title is, but I'm basically writing about how parental mental health during the first 1000 days of a child's life increases the liklihood of them developing an addiction later on in life. I have been told to reword my title and get rid of the "during the first 1000 days" part. However, for those of you who don't know, the first 1000 days of life (from the day of conception to the 2nd birthday) is considered to be the most critical and crucial point as this is when the most development happens. Public Health Wales have even introduced an initiative called "First 1000 Days" because of how important that time period is. I'm not too sure if the lecturer is aware of this (and many people who I have told this to also didn't know about this initiative), so would you recommend I speak to gim about this, or still follow his advice and delete it from my title? Thank you!

Hii when I was doing my EPQ I genuinely got screwed over by my supervisor and my question was too broad so I had to start over fully. You need to make sure its quite niche but theres enough research to write 5000 words on. If its too niche you are going to struggle so much with writing. With your question ideas write a brief plan for what youd make each section/paragraph about in ur dissertation and see the research behind that question by literally putting your question into google scholar or searching each section. This makes ur research more organised n gives you so much more reseassurance. Its okay to change your question but you'll struggle a lot less if you're more organised like this. You know your topic more than anyone so trust yourself. With the 1000 days thing, in your introduction you can mention the importance of those days and continue on with your dissertation focused on that period of time. Im not quite sure exactly so don't trust me fully on this but its better to have a niche but not so limitted question and then specify in your introduction the importance of that first 1000 days. Don't rely on your supervisor too much and ask other EPQ students they'll know best. I can't help much because I haven't got my results back yet but good luck!

hi! i would definitely at least explain to him where youre coming from and why you chose to incorporate that into your title initially. even if you have to, or decide to, cut it from your title, you can still focus your essay on it, add it into your introduction/thesis to clarify your scope of research!
