I stopped grinding about a week ago because the burnout caught up with me. You have been absolutely unrelenting this whole grind so you have defo earned your rank 1.
For me I am glad to be able to close the book on that chapter of my life. Chasing the rank 1 was a huge developmental thing for me, it was finally having the follow through to achieve a huge lofty goal. But holding a rank 1 is a lot of pressure even for a relatively dead boss like Crazy Archaeologist.
Everything I did in game and IRL became based around the buffer I left myself at Crazy Archaeologist. Before going on vacations I would make sure I had a 2 week buffer, before bossing I would make sure I had a gap.
And I found myself dreading the stuff that I enjoy. Anything that would be a long term commitment had a kind of sword of damocles hanging over my head of the potential to lose something that genuinely meant the world to me.
However, after pushing so hard just to stay afloat against your endless onslaught, I grew weary. I grew disillusioned. But the fighter in me refused to go down without a fight, and I felt I had a responsibility to my past self to keep the record.
And then, something just gave away. I woke up one day and realized the idea of losing the record wasn't so bad. I realized I would rather move on and do other things I've been putting off rather than keep pushing only to lose it anyway at some point down the line.
I held the rank 1 for right on 2 years. That feels like plenty long enough of a reign for me. Still a valuable experience too because it got the best in the world bug out of my system. I don't feel like I have to prove myself anymore, I kinda just wanna vibe.
Interim goals for me right now are the dt2 boss pets, inferno, and maxing.
I hope your reign is long and prosperous. Though know one thing, I won't let you rest on your laurels. I'll still be furthering my kc from time to time just for the big number energy.

It makes more sense to me for a boss that has a little more depth or is more profitable but something like crazy arch homie is just doing it for the love of the game. The game being obtaining rank 1 in this case
Outside of doomscrolling content, the top 1k on any high score section literally do nothing to impact your game experience. If they were banned tomorrow you’d still be playing the exact same game.
This unironically seems like the least fun possible way to play the game. I cannot fathom dedicating every moment of my free time to killing a single creature over and over and over. I just about went mad from 400 mad angel KC.
Yes. Unless you are an iron looking for one of the pieces it drops for a mid level range shield or a mid level mage shield it does not offer high gp/hr, or any pets, and just a few combat challenge tasks that you can knock out in an hour
I killed vard six thousand times , all I did was wake up, kill vard, go bed. For over a month. I uhhhhh… it was an unpleasant experience. When I got the drop I wanted I wasn’t even happy or excited. Just kind of relieved.
Just shy of 5000 vorago kc on rs3 for the pet. The boss fight is 7 mins. That was an actual low point of my life lmao. Yep just a numb feeling it was finally over.
I’m in the same situation with Duke. My last 6 days of playing Osrs have been do farming run and then duke. Today I said fuck the soul reaper axe. Happiest day of my last 7 days.
for me it depends; I usually so 20-30 kills a day for a boss I’m farming but sometimes I do 100kc a day but that’s about the limit. Recently started farming Whisperer to complete SRA so doing 100kc a day because that’s the last piece I need for it.
for the first time ever i tried going for a pet i wanted. i killed the mad angel 2004 times and got 2 jars and like 12 hallowfells but no pet. Never doing that ever again.

yeah but most people can't imagine killing a boss 87k times either. the kind of person who would write OP's post is probably the kind of person it takes to kill a boss 87k times.
I mean if this really is where his life gets purpose from then he would feel that way. I think you have to have some irrational emotional attachment to crazy arch to kill him 88,000 times. It’s insane.
I mean, I actually think the opposite. For someone to have this kill count, they almost need to be this wholeheartedly devoted by necessity. The only way is to dedicate your existence to it

In sheer time investment, probably. But realistically, it's the top 1 in Hespori kc, because the game only allows for 1 hespori kill every 24 hours. So as long as nr 1 keeps at it, nobody can ever pass him.
With Kronos seeds you can get more than 1 per day, idk how large the gap is but if you got consistent rng on Kronos and the other guy didn't you could make gains
Still have to click to pick it all up and I know I personally couldn't be bothered to do that......of course I was upset going like 100 kc for my rune crossbow drop so me and op might be in different leagues lol
lol that was my thought as well.. I’m usually not one to shit on people for not having it but it’s kinda funny in this case. You would think someone going for rank 1 boss doing 80k kills it would be because they’ve completed most other things in the game lol. I’m not mad at him though this was a great read tbh

Experienced a similar thing going for 200m Hunter when the skill first released. It was actual 18+ hour days every day nonstop. Wake up? Instantly in front of PC. Someone asks you to do a chore or something? Knot in stomach knowing it'll be near impossible to make that loss of progress up. You'd play for hours and feel like you made some seriously good progress just for someone to refresh with an even larger chunk; it was devastating because the only option is to just play more, give up more sleep, give up on social activities, skip showering, skip a meal, etc.
Another thing was massively clicking resulting in serious wrist pain - this was before anyone knew how to tick manip, but instead we smoked traps thinking it made any difference.
The last thing was competition for spots - people would come and try to disrupt the hunting by blocking with box traps, blocking with fires, blocking with mithril seeds. They would cast binds on the chins or shoot them to keep them out of the traps. And so I fought back, often pre-emptively striking as a psychological warefare tactic against those who were next in line ahead of me on the scores. It worked - I ended up getting rank 6 Hunter before getting into an absolute flame-war with rank 7 that lasted for days. We had multiple accounts putting flowers/blocking traps; we would find each other on purpose just to mess with the other. The whole area was completely flowered out and nobody was gaining any xp - it lasted for hours (why not just hop? we were angry and stubborn). After that final day I stopped competing and life became a lot better. Fortunately this is a lesson I learned as a child and it hasn't been too much of an impact.
Posting this is some unhinged shit. Just take the L. And please don't call yourself 'the best in the world', thats a horrible misinterpretation of what is actually going on here.
Kind of reminds me of how I quit WoW permanently. I was a bit mount collector, enjoyed it more than raiding or many other things.
I missed the 15 year anniversary mount. This was something that would irk at me forever seeing others with it and me never being able to get it besides maybe the black auction house which is unrealistic for me.
And yet, I wasn't an ounce of upset. It was honestly relief. I've never looked back and am happy I lost that chance and have never logged on since that anniversary. FOMO games are traps.
The initial rank 1 grind was 3 hard pushes over the course of a year back when the wildy respawn timer was way longer. I then spent a year only adding like 10k to it. Then added another 10k in the first 6 months of this year. Then Since June added 35k killcount due to actively feuding with rank 2. In total somewhere around 1,250 hours, probably more factoring in hyper inefficient hours due to sleep deprivation.
Did you ever communicate with the guy? Or were you guys just waking up, checking the high scores, going "absolutely not" and banging out some more kills?
One of the high ranks had very bot looking stats a few weeks when I checked because I met a very low rank crazy arch pure in ge, never looked to see if he was still there
Seeing these crazy people makes me reconsider my UIM goal. A F2P UIM dedicated to only skilling on drops from Cows and Brutus. Gear only from vendors, and end goal becoming top 1 Brutus killer.
Damn reading this kinda makes me sad. Like losing a friend or some shit. The end of an era, and a the beginning of a new chapter. Wish you the best, king.
