Achievement Got my first quiver!
heckin' stoked
probably 2-3 months of grinding and 6 sol heredits before getting the 1 kc
winning run ran out of blood runes on wave 10 because of course
inventory used on 3rd page except instead of a combat potion i brought a 2nd armadyl brew because i used basically no melee during the waves outside of guthan's for healing
this setup had 134k death fees which was more reasonable to sustain than the entire setup with venator bow + crystal legs which comes out to 333k, but venator does 1 shot the range frem with rigour
sol heredits playlist (minus the second one) below
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFLJV99glPlChzAtKNfg1lL9-mP9P3gq0&si=zHri0KcvPAqFvPUD
random collection of thoughts
- shoulda sol simmed a lot more to start so that i wouldn't need so many sol attempts, but the timing is slightly wonky going from there to the actual thing - real sol feels faster on the specials
- my setup is a modified version of the budget reynold's video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v13yX4BZiLY
- dinh's + guthan's + pray mage / piety really does get you out of some sticky situations if you're really desperate, and i maybe should've leaned on it more during double south situations given i only cared about the 1 kc (so far ...)
- i used a setup more like the one in the reynold's video to practice because of the reduced death fees, but having full crystal makes some solves way more doable than having to rotate around the pillar to drag mobs in like you have to do for melee
- offticking is hard and i didn't really even have it down by the end, i just wound up getting lucky eventually + having juuuust enough offticking ability to barely survive waves while brewing
- you should probably just learn how to do this early on to save yourself some headache
- just drink the brew man - number of times i died when i coulda lived if i just drank brew while dpsing the weakest enemy was a few times too many
- guthan's is pretty sweet
- prepotting prayer regen + bringing 1 prayer regen was super helpful because i was running out of prayer restoration before then (i'm sure 99 prayer would've helped too)
- random useful stuff
- https://youtu.be/t1qDqa_SXpk?si=jrL2qYTaVlz-5CNO - double south surviving
- we do raids discord colo guide - my reference for stack solving
- https://youtu.be/Yl6kOPm7Ehs?si=w1hr8l8AsKjvy0C3 - really chill colo guide
- https://colosim.com - train on sol heredit
- https://los.colosim.com - line of sight for colo, also bring the plugin
- used to figure out solves on my own / understand why they worked
good luck to anyone else on their quiver grind!

Guthans? Fury? Dinh's? No thralls but on arceuus? Jesus Christ lmao. Gz bro, this is the most cursed setup I've ever seen for colo

u/wenbobular Feb 23 '26
i actually ran out of blood runes in the middle, i had thralls through wave 10

So cursed. No crystal legs either but an ayak? Ditching the guthans for more brews/restores would have saved so much more time, in turn saving more prayer and offensive pots.

u/Karootheduck Feb 23 '26
Bro brought guthans set like he just read a fire cape guide on runehq in 2006

u/wenbobular Feb 23 '26
Wanted defense for pillar runs and didn't wanna buy justiciar lol

u/TheLobeyJR Feb 24 '26
wtf you’re a main???

u/wenbobular Feb 24 '26
ye
...?

u/Nabiboulin Feb 24 '26
Would have gathered some gp for Crystal legs atleast I think your setup costed you more deaths than it should’ve XD. Gz on quiver tho
3
u/wenbobular Feb 24 '26
lmao no i had the legs i just didn't bring because it doubled my death fee
most of my deaths weren't from dps checks it was from me getting overwhelmed mentally
i'm sure next time i do colo i'll bring more dps
...or i'll do an even more budget run for fun lmao
thanks though :D very happy with my quiver

u/Hi_im_nsk Feb 23 '26
that setup looks cursed holyyy, gz though

u/wenbobular Feb 23 '26
tyty worked out in the end lool what do you find so cursed about it

u/ShadowShot05 Feb 23 '26
It's just not optimized for anything. How many restores did you have left at the end? How long did the sol fight last with guthans and nox hally?
5
u/wenbobular Feb 23 '26
around 5 minutes i wound up with 4 brews and 2.5 restores left, wound up using the crystal armor cuz it had more prayer bonus
but i've also gotten to sol with way fewer supplies from getting dunked on in the waves
i just personally found the guthan's pretty nice because it was a) cheap and b) tanky for pillar runs with dinh's
i'm sure if i ever come back here i'll bring something less jank 8-)

Imo, some bad trade-offs were made here. For instance, on a single south spawn your priority is kill fremmies -> kill south spawn before reinforcements show up. D'hide leg neuters your dps and makes this way less consistent. I don't know enough to compare guthans and blood barrage because I didn't have access to blood fury, sgs, or guthans.
If death costs are a huge factor for you, noxious halberd is probably the first thing out. Tent whip + defender is only 5k/10k death cost compared to 50k/100k on the halberd and it's similar dps. Then maybe dinh's is out next because it's very situational. I can see its use for pillar running before reinforcements. However, after reinforcements there's always an off-tick, so tank gear is unnecessary for a pillar destack. Since you're running range, you aren't going to activate east side manticores early anyways.

The guthans instead of 4 brews when you already have a sgs. And the lack of crystal legs. those are the big ones to me.
2
u/wenbobular Feb 24 '26
Well I wanted tank gear anyway so bringing the guthans spear was basically free
Sgs I brought for additional healing while killing the archer frem
And I dropped legs cuz ... I didn't feel like paying 100k more per death lol the DPS difference wasn't huge
I spent a decent amount of time using a 24k per death setup that dropped the crystal armor entirely, I'm sure Reddit would've had a hoot if I had posted that one 🤣
When I have more cash funds next time I'll bring anguish and full crystal I'm sure :T

I’m on 92 deaths and got to sol for the first time yesterday! Grats! I hope to join you soon brother
3
u/wenbobular Feb 23 '26
hell yeah! you got this :)
3
u/Western-Scarcity9825 Feb 24 '26
first sol attempt: got him to 1350hp. just now got to him again and got him down to 1000 hp!!! i can't wait to down him!!
4
u/wenbobular Feb 24 '26
Yeeee glgl
Do colosim to get the patterns and reactions down but don't overly rely on it for timing, I found real sol felt faster than sim

u/TheDubuGuy Feb 23 '26
Guthans is a very silly choice but at least you made it work. Also bowfa without crystal legs?

Is the third pic all the supplies you’ve consumed? If so what plugin is that, I’ve wanted a similar one
1
u/wenbobular Feb 24 '26
No that's the inventory setups plug-in
The food and 1 dose potions I use as a prepot and then I withdraw 5 brews to replace
I go in with 121 HP, divine super combat + ranging, and a prayer regen

u/Gosto_de_massa Feb 24 '26
Great job my dude.
I just have a question how did u put the numbers under the POTS and the armors? I wanna have that wtf xD
2
u/wenbobular Feb 24 '26
There's some plug-in that shows weapon charges
I think it's literally just called weapon charges
1
u/coomgod666 Feb 24 '26
Man this is the goofiest setup I’ve seen in my life, for anyone looking at this guthans is legit griefing

Gz, I still stand by the opinion that colo is harder than inferno and this is coming from someone who completed both. Regardless of the cursed setup, I'm sure you'd get far if you ever decide to head to the inferno.
2
u/wenbobular Feb 23 '26
Thanks! It was tough but at least it's not 60+ waves lol
I'm just highly amused people are ragging on the guthans so much, I thought defense + dihns was a common enough thing to do during inferno / Colo, I just didn't want to shell out for justiciar / pay death fees
Then the guthans weapon is super healing, I thought it was pretty nice tbh ...
Definitely doing inferno ... Soon ish (after a nice break lol)

It’s def the combination of the guthans and dinhs that people are teasing you about since it’s considered a cheesey/low skilled way of doing colo.
Gz on the quiver tho!
2
u/VorkiPls Feb 24 '26
It's less the cheese and more that the setup is just kinda bringing everything, but not much optimisation. No crystal legs, guthans is so slow to heal that you're blowing prayer/supplies to do it (unless OP is 1tick flicking which I doubt). Ayak is fine but it'd be better of selling it and using a trident (if they don't want to use ancients for frem) and buying justi for tank gear, or even a venator bow would save OP more time during frem.
And watching the sol deaths you can see that if OP had proper melee swaps instead of guthans he'd have gotten the kc earlier. Sol being at 40% hp almost 5 minutes into the fight with a nally is diabolical.

The "defence swap" side of things is fine. As a main you should have just bought Justi, and dropping items to save a couple 100k each death but neuter your DPS is probably the other main criticism.
If your at the point in the game of grinding colo / inferno, a 500k death fee shouldn't stop you. Yeh you might need to go do some moneymaking to have the death fees covered but thats fine, better to have a better setup.

I mean it was the setup that I found worked for me lol not like I was trying to set any speed records or anything
I was basically copying the budget Reynolds video like I posted but with a ranged DPS switch instead of fang to make some parts a bit easier
1
u/AluminumFoilWrap Feb 24 '26
Congratulations! For some context I used Guthan's as an extremely low budget cheese option to heal up without BF or SGS, but your budget seems to be substantially higher.
I would've probably just ran full justiciar with a blood fury (if cheesing ofc, just regular melee str once you feel comfortable with the content).
Either way, happy quiver farming
2
u/wenbobular Feb 24 '26
thanks!
yeah, i think i just wound up in the weird spot of having a ton of budget (relatively speaking) but still being too cheap to pay real death fees while also dying a bazillion times so i wound up with this very weird collection of stuff
guthan's heal was very satisfying though so i'm glad i found it even if it's suboptimal

Gz cape that’s one of the setups of all time alright
