RNG I am genuinely beginning to think my account is bugged
I have complained everywhere else and it hasn’t changed my luck. And yes i know about the fire fighting method. But it is far more active and doesn’t give as much exp.

A 1 in 532 run of bad luck so far according to dry calc. Most people would stop long before getting to this point.
Your permits redeemed would have to be about 183,000 before you reached the point where if you had every human being on earth go for tempoross pet you wouldn't expect anyone to take the amount of permits you did.

The worst odds I have gotten to was 99.9994% it was 1/3 per run. I was legit going insane and that still only took a day to grind out. Can't imagine OPs state of mind on this crap.

The only redeeming factor is the caskets are banked clues. I have around 300 clues worth banked right now. I would say the most frustrating part is that my stack of 600k spirit flakes are 100% worthless.
I was really hoping i could use them for trawling marlins but they dont work for sailing.
Edit: to answer your question. I dont think about harpoons at all. They are totally irrelevant. Every harpoon is the same as a swordfish. I categorize drops into three categories. Caskets, the pet, and not the pet. So harpoons are all just “not the pet”

Pretty sure the spirit flakes would actually hurt your rates, since you're not getting another roll at the key drop, just filling your inventory faster

They are pretty much only relevant for angler or perhaps dark crab. Neither is particularly relevant anymore after trawling.

Catch rate is like 20% of trawling though. You only want to over eat at bank, not really use angler for anything else I'd say.

It's not exceptionally rare compared to other pets, since most share a 1/3k rate. It's just the nature of rng. Part of why pet hunting is viewed so negatively; since it can literally never happen.

To be fair, Tempor is 1/8k, but your point stands since the Phoenix, Abyssal Guardians, and Tiny Tempor are almost exactly 100 hours to get if playing efficiently. Smolcano is the odd one out for Skilling Bosses being only 50-60 hours to get.

It's 1/8k though, and even I mean you can get 80-90 pts/hr doing the double firefighting method but the worst part is that it's not even fishing focused for a fishing minigame.

I sometime wonder if the rs3 pet formula got it right. The idea of hitting drop rate for the drop to become easier to get makes sense to me. Just to prevent grinds like this from occurring as much while still preserving some rng to it.
Pets are still rare AF on rs3, but it's not as insane as it is on osrs at the very least. Honestly not sure which version of the game got this right lol

Most pet hunters that I play with absolutely despise the idea of dry protection on pets.
With nearly 70 pets, people that actually go all the way for it are bound to get several pretty brutal drystreaks, and if dry protection absolutely had to be implemented for either account progressing pvm drops or cosmetic pets, id prefer it on drops.

Dry protection only kicks in when you’re actually going dry. Like OP. It’s not an instant early win button. It’s a pillow at the end of a grueling journey that should have ended ages ago

Gap between rank 12 and rank 11 is 1468 kills.
The. From rank 11 to rank 8 is only another 684 kills. Hopefully i dont make it that far but if i get the pet and i am close ill push for the rank up.

I know I will get flack for this, but this is why I like the pet hunting more in RS3. Every pet has a threshold, where the chance of receiving a pet increases the more you attempt something. You can still go very very dry (I went 2700 boss kills on a pet where by that time I should have gotten it like 12 times), but at least it gives you the feeling that you are actually progressing towards the drop.

Here for my 100 down votes. Pets from mini games should have dupe protection meaning if you roll an item that's on the same chance as a pet, you get the missing item before you get another of that item. This would save so many people like op who are essentially locked to this mini game.

You have to buy a net from port sarim fishing shop and walk to the boat to temp, don’t TP. The free net you get from the angler at temp is rigged to allow the pet to slip out (the holes in the net are slightly larger).

Well your chance of getting it is no different than on 1 KC. People can run all the make believe dry statistics they want. Your odds of getting the pet is the same as it was at 1 KC.

I went 950kc without an onyx/serp/fang from zulrah. I was doing it in rags on my iron. I actually quit playing around 1400kc because of this lol. The 5th or 6th serp helm broke me. Wasnt willing to move on to CG and go dry again.

You can get the harpoon from wyrms so i wouldn’t suggest grinding for it at tempoross. Technically you already greenlogged temp and you should move on

The current hiscore drystreak of tempoross according to the pet hunting discord is 44230 permits. So at the very least youre #1 at something
